We're a young, inexperienced team and program. One of the things you have to guard against when things start going well is thinking offense first. We got up 10-2 and apparently thought it was going to be easy. We completely forgot what's gotten us here, and that's our defense.

This was not the brand of basketball we want to play. We did not have enough possessions running off defensive rebounds. I also was not pleased with our communication tonight. We still don't understand the power of togetherness.

It's tough. We're probably holding ourselves to a higher standard than we may be ready for but at this institution you have to do that.

It's a little embarrassing when you decide in the beginning of the year that you want to be one of the best 3-point field goal defensive teams in the league. Their guards were savvy and they really showed their senior leadership today. We need to get a little better defensively. We know what our issues are. I don't want to say defending the three has been our problem more than just poor communication.

There were a lot of things we can learn from today. It was one of the cleaner games for both these teams in a long time. Obviously, I'm very disappointed we lost but just to have everyone back healthy is a good feeling.

I like coming off the bench now. It gives me an opportunity to see how the game's progressing and what my team needs of me on the court whether it be scoring or getting rebounds.

It feels better to see our kids playing with passion. I'm really proud of these guys. They responded to the challenge tonight.

Defense! We helped each other, we challenged shots, we made it tough to pass. We competed on the defensive end.

Greg is allowed to do that when he plays defense. I've been on his butt to defend. I thought he played unbelievable D tonight.

Matt was like Willis Reed coming back out of the locker room.

They are tough. They do things that championship teams have to do. They defend, they are tough and they share the ball. We have a long way to go. We are trying to rebuild a basketball program and it's going to take some time, but there is no doubt in my mind that we are eventually going to be a good basketball program again.

Courage is the best word to use when talking about Matt. The kid's dedication to Navy basketball has been inspiring to me as a coach. Matt has set a standard for the younger players to meet.

Matt gives us a steady inside presence. His ability to catch the ball in the post and pass it back to the perimeter gives us an inside-outside game. I prefer having Matt on the floor, but not at the expense of his long-term health. We have to be very careful not to jeopardize his Naval career.

We can't afford to start a game not sharp. Our offensive energy needs to be higher. Holy Cross had a lot to do with that. They are a physical team that plays great defense.

Holy Cross likes to press up on the ball and the way you beat that is to get the ball down low. We couldn't do that consistently.
