[The Eagles did not want to let Tomlinson get to the outside, where he is most dangerous.] We wanted to make sure everything was funneled inside, ... We wanted to get as many hits on him as possible. |
A Monday night game does give you a different vibe. |
All you can do is deal with what the facts are right now. The facts are that this is the last game of the season. The facts are that there were a lot of injuries. The facts are that this is nowhere close to the season that we wanted to have. |
Both of those guys can still fly. I think that with having Priest, having Trent, and having Tony, those guys might get lost in the shuffle a little bit. You can't say that we're going to concentrate completely on two guys, and let those guys run routes all day. |
But I mean, I felt their pain. How close we were, for that many years, to get to that point, and then lose it? We talked our way to where we wanted to be and we played our way to where we wanted to be. From the year before, we knew where we needed to be to get that next level. Then we got there and we couldn't capitalize. |
But that shouldn't matter to us. If they get the ball on the 30-yard line, our mind-set is we should still hold them to a field goal. |
By no means is this locker room downbeat. We understand what we should have done this past Monday. Give them credit for winning the game, but we understand what should've taken place and that shouldn't even have been a close game. |
By that part of the season, you know the playbook inside and out. The mental part of the game, you don't even have to think about. You can just fly and let your athletic ability go. |
Did I do everything I needed to do? |
Each guy in here has to look in the mirror and ask themselves: |
Each guy needs to look at his performance, look at the progress during the week. Did I do everything I needed to do? [We'll] get back to the team we know we are. |
For me, what happened this year, with this team, with all the injuries and stuff, I can't put too much into it. |
For some people, it might not make a difference, but any time you have a job to do, you want to be the best and succeed at that job. You don't just chalk it up and say that winning or losing this game does not make a difference. I don't see us doing that. |
For the average person sitting on the couch, they're saying, 'Well, I wouldn't have gotten in there [after being hurt]. But you're not on the field. It's a completely different feeling when you're on the field. There are different emotions you have to try to cut through, until you get to the common-sense part. Common sense is, like, way back in your head. Everything else is in the front. |
He has a gun for an arm, but the things he can do with his legs, man. |
