Me and Denny are good friends. He came down a couple years ago and hung out in the bus. I knew he was a pretty good race car driver. ... I tried to get Joe (Gibbs) to give him up, if you will. But they hung onto him and that's probably the smartest move they made because he's going to make them a lot of money.

I've raced harder this year than I've ever raced before. You think you're doing all you can. I've always felt like I've given 100 percent, but you're put in certain situations and you find you're capable of doing more. Hopefully, I still haven't realized my full potential. I feel like I've got a lot to learn and as a driver I can get a lot better and each year I understand there's more to me than I even thought I had.

I considered it a pretty big accomplishment personally, because for me Bristol is probably the toughest track on the circuit.

The track was a lot faster and it had a lot more grip. I like it, it was real smooth and they did a great job.

I thought I lost the brakes altogether, so I took it to pit road. It never fully went away, but it obviously wasn't as bad as I thought. It's just frustrating. The only thing that [stinks] worse than a bad finish is a bad finish with a fast race car. It was easily a top-five car all day.

Tony and I are a good combination. And we're going to try to work toward next year. These next nine races are real important and we're going to try to build on that.

We passed the second-place car, and then ran away from him [late in the race]. So if you paid real close attention to what happened today -- well, I don't know if I can explain it -- but we'll be OK. We got some stuff figured out today that really helped the car. I can't wait for Indy.

I'm not going to tell you, but I think everybody knows where we are headed and what we are going to do. I think it should get us back in Victory Lane a lot more often and at least up front leading laps.

It takes a lot away from the credibility of the sport if you're giving somebody a helping hand to make it more exciting. I just don't feel like it's fair to those drivers. I don't think it's fair to my team. In a sense, it takes a lot away from them. It wouldn't be cool if that happened. I wouldn't be too comfortable with it.

I'm really disappointed running like this. I'm surprised it's been this way most of the year, but now we have to go out and try to win races. We quit worrying about points a long time ago.

'The thing about Bristol is you can be really good but still caught up in a wreck. That's probably the main concern. Even if you're the leader, it's hard to miss wrecks sometimes because of all the lapped traffic. That's just Bristol. You can't take a break at any time. The moment you think you're doing good, it'll jump up and deal you a nasty blow.

I'm sorry, Jeff, but if I don't make it, I hope you don't, either. That way, I am not the only one talking [about being left out].

I've always been a big fan of Car and Track. Bud Lindemann had the vision to bring auto racing to television over 30 years ago. I watched every episode as a kid and still watch them today. We're going to show everyone the grassroots of our sport and bring the past to the present in a fun and entertaining way.

Not even worried about it. I'm having fun driving these race cars, and that's all I think about. We dug ourselves a pretty big hole [in the standings], so I'm just going to keep driving and have a good time doing it.

I was pretty optimistic last year going into the season. The only thing different this year is I have my cousin working with me again. So, there is that comfort aspect and familiarity. It is easier to know what to expect this year, whereas last year, we were optimistic but uncertain about how well we were going to do. He (Tony) is really good at what he does. We are family and just communicate well, even though we don't always get that right either. For the most part, he is one of the best crew chiefs in the garage. He builds a great race car.
