As bad as we played defensively we were in the game the first half but then we come out and take the third quarter off. We're one shooter away. Dave (LeBlanc) had a great game but we didn't get much from anyone else. |
Defensively we played good and we only gave up 43 but offensively our shooting was horrendous. We kept getting pretty good looks but nothing seems to be going our way. |
I just don't know what happened. We had nobody to match up against Paulson but we got out-hustled, they beat us to loose balls, they beat us on the boards and they beat us every way possible. This was as flat as we've been in 11 games. There's no excuses. |
I thought it was a real team effort tonight. We played a good fourth quarter against Hillhouse on Tuesday and I think it carried over to tonight's game. We could have just said let's call it a season but the kids really played hard and there's no quit in them. |
I thought we played pretty well defensively which we've done all year for the most part but we struggle offensively. We need to just keep shooting. We keep getting good looks but nothings going our way. |
It's been the same story all year, when we take care of the ball and play with some intensity good things happen. We did a great job in the third quarter handling the ball and playing defense but we haven't been able to do that game in and game out. |
My big thing is we have no dominant shooters so we have to value every possession. We need to have single digit turnovers and double digit rebounds or we can't compete and again tonight we turned it over too many times. |
This was like a playoff game for us. I thought if we could get this one and even with Hillhouse coming up next we had four games left I thought we could win. Now the Hillhouse game becomes a playoff game. |
We came out flat in the first half but then out young kids really picked up the intensity and we played great. I don't know what it is about the third quarter but we seem to play our best. I just wish we could keep it going for four quarters. |
We got nothing from our big men. (Andrew) Zimmer was in foul trouble all game and they dominated both ends of the glass. The last two games we improved each time out. Tonight we took a step backwards. We need to learn from this and move on. There's 17 games left. |
We had no intensity on defense to start and they just ran up and down the floor on us but we came back a little in the second half. We needed to get our shooters better looks when we got it back to six or eight, but we ended up turning the ball over and then they get easy baskets the other way. We need to be more patient on offense. |
We played hard but it's a matter of learning how to win. We had good looks but we made some mistakes down the stretch and you can't do that against a good team. When you play a freshman and two sophomores for most of the game you have to take the bad with the good. |
We tried to take advantage of Zimmer's height advantage thinking that one-on-one he would either get the shot off or get fouled but they defended it well. |
When we shoot the ball we can get things going but when you're one and done it's tough to keep it going. They were bigger and we kept giving up easy shots. I thought our guards played well but we had a tough time rebounding. |
You don't mind losing but we didn't even compete. This wasn't Hillhouse or West Haven. We're relying on the jump shot because we're not getting anything inside and when the shots don't drop we struggle. |
