The unfortunate part is the first half we didn't play great. So it was an uphill battle the rest of the game.

We outscored them 6-2 in the second half. Guys kept fighting and that's a product of our program. These kids believed that they can win and keep fighting.

The kids were upbeat yesterday in practice and they continued to get after it. I was proud of their effort all the way across the board.

The coaching staff is thrilled with the addition of these 10 young men for the fall of 2006. They are quality individuals who will maintain the integrity and academic excellence we have built within The Ohio State University's men's lacrosse program. They all bring a desire to compete for another conference championship and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

The schedule is the toughest we've had in years. The staff and players are excited about having six night games, as well as a number of great teams on the schedule. Each week will be demanding and our guys must be focused and prepared for each opponent.

The first midfield has solidified itself from day one. Josh, Andrew and Jason have quickly become a lethal and powerful unit that will be tough to stop this year for any defense.

The goalies will compete all preseason to determine the starter against North Carolina in the season opener. We feel comfortable with all three but certainly need one guy to seize the moment and take control of the defense for the season.

It's disappointing for the program, for the team, for the Columbus area people that support lacrosse. I think that's the most disappointing part for the players, getting a chance to play a team of that caliber in our backyard.

The offense around him did a nice job creating opportunities for Craig, whose job is to finish on the crease.

The defense played a solid game without being tested much throughout, except in man-down situations in which we were 7 of 7.

Every time we play Butler it rains, so that's not something new for us.

This is why you play the games, to have a chance to win championships. This senior group has won two conference titles (in 2003 and 2004). They?re going to get after it and see if they can get their third.

I just think the overall group has come together. The attitude was terrific fighting through adversity. We have great senior leadership, certainly with the five senior captains. They stayed patient and allowed these young guys to come along.
