I could stand here and recite statistic after statistic, indicator after indicator but I don't need to. All of you know where Louisiana stands [health care]. At the bottom.

I deeply appreciate Admiral Allen's sensitivity and understanding and his call to me this afternoon. I am reassured by his call as I continue to have great confidence in the Admiral's leadership.

I do not want this sense of lawlessness to continue, because it's hampering our efforts to bring people in, to save people,

I do want to tell you how much we appreciated watching all of the integrated forces at work as one,

I don't think we've seen a catastrophic event like this where local governments have lost their entire tax base, ... Each day that goes by puts more governments in jeopardy.

I have called for this special meeting to begin immediately the work of rebuilding our state and restoring our people,
|
I have charged these two distinguished leaders to harness the energy of the entire board and put forth strong, aggressive initiatives, ... The Louisiana Recovery Authority will help me bring the entire state together in the effort to rebuild Louisiana. It will be a unified voice with the single focus on rebuilding. It will show the nation that we can work across all of the old boundaries that once kept us apart.
