At that point of the game, I thought we were fine. There was a lot of game left, but I thought that possession for possession, if we would take care of the ball, we should be fine, but it just didn't happen. |
Being down big hurt us. Coming out in the third quarter, we turned it over. And then when we would hit a big shot, they would match it. |
I don't know if there was any extra incentive because of losing to them before. What I do know is that these kids are capable of playing the way we played tonight, especially on the defensive end of the floor. They played smart, they took care of the basketball and overall, I thought we did a great job. |
I don't think we are [far behind them]. They had three girls really step up for them when they needed it and they made their free throws down the stretch. But the bottom line is the kids played hard and never gave up, and I guess sometimes, you just have to turn around and go back to work. |
She plays so well when the game is on the line. She just wants the ball and, when she makes up her mind, there's nobody who's going to stop her. She showed that in the playoffs. |
She seems to rise to the occasion. This is playoff time. This is crunch time. She does what it takes to win. |
That last time we played [Mt. Lebanon] we turned the ball over 30 times. This time, we turned it over just eight. That was the biggest difference. |
The kids know that one got away from us. They now know you can't give up three or four minutes and not show up to play. You have to play hard for the entire 32 minutes. |
We got a little complacent in that stretch of the game. When we get complacent, we just stand around. |
What makes her special is she can do it all. She rebounds, can handle the ball, plays with her back to the basket or facing the basket. She can defend somebody in the post or on the perimeter. |
