We really turned it around at the end of last season and beat four teams that had beaten us. We're hoping to start fast this year. We have some high hopes, at least cracking the .500 mark both in conference and overall.

We're looking for Jamie to give us some really good senior leadership. She plays really good defense, and she has a nice stick. She's set for a big senior year.

Amanda has good power, and she makes all the plays in the field. We expect her to get nothing but better this year. Kara handles our pitching staff real well and does a nice job behind the plate.

I think with Lauren and Kelsey we're going to have a nice 1-2 punch on the mound. We had to throw Lauren into the fire last year. She really grew up and continued to get better over the year. Kelsey throws hard. She seems to have five different pitches.

We're very happy to win our opener and get our first conference victory. Our defense was solid and our pitching was excellent.

Offensively, we struggled with our execution.

We had a power outage and we just couldn't get a timely hit. Lauren pitched well in both games. I felt bad for her.

Lauren had a nice effort today after pitching 11 innings (Thursday) night.

There were a couple plays there I thought we could have made to get us out of it and we just weren't able to do that today.

Even up 3-0 I knew we were going to have to play well to beat them because they are an experienced team and well-coached. They maintained their poise.
