He is a talented young midfielder with great potential. To date injury and illness hasn't allowed Steven to achieve what we think he can, but we are looking forward to his progression over the coming years,

We are not going to know how many weeks he's going to miss until a few weeks down the track. He has come back and played after three or four weeks each time.

He's had this injury three times before, so it's not too foreign to him. He won't do much for the next week or two, but as soon as he's right he will be back up and playing pretty much straight away.

Obviously we're focused on not getting players rubbed out, but at the same time we don't want to make them too gun-shy.

He's no certainty, and I'd rate him a genuine 50-50 chance.

But it was really only a walk in the park for him.

He's right on the time line, about four weeks, judging on the previous times, but I guess we were hoping he'd mend a bit quicker this time.

Everyone at the club is feeling for what Matt is going through,

For him to suffer his third serious knee injury on the eve of the finals after all he's been through, and all he's done to get back playing this year is cruel.

The club will do everything it can to assist Matt through this most difficult period.

The club is bitterly disappointed for Matthew,

At this stage we don't know the full extent of the injury. We all have our fingers crossed and were hoping for the best. Regardless of the result of the surgery, Matthew will not take to the field again in season 2005.

Matthew has worked so hard to get his body right, and for him to injure his knee at this time is tragic,
