Right before the ball was snapped, the linebackers all shifted over. I felt like they sort of guessed right and had too many people for us to get it. It was a gut play and I've done it before. I had a big one on fourth and 1 against New England. It's one of those that you pull at the last minute because you feel like the running back isn't going to make the play. |
Some guys need to see things on a grease board, ... I like when you can see it in your mind. And that's what Marvin does, too. He visualizes. He sees things in his mind so well. |
Some of these young quarterbacks have asked me, they've said, 'You and Marvin (Harrison) are lucky to have that timing,' ... It ain't lucky. I was teasing someone from the Colts, 'If you want to sell some season tickets, put a hidden camera out here showing me, Marvin and the ball boy out here throwing. Just to let people know what this means to us.' It was April. It wasn't mandatory. There weren't any coaches around. We were going full speed. That's what it takes. |
Tackles and quarterbacks certainly know what number he is, where he is, what side he's on, |
That hurt was real and personal because me and my brother grew up in Louisiana. We knew those streets, neighborhoods and businesses and felt compelled to do something. |
That seems like such a long, long way. Everybody talks about home-field [advantage during the playoffs] and bye. Our focus is to try to win the AFC South. That's what we talk about. . . . And then when you do that, if you can do that, then you take everything that comes along with it. You try to win the division. That guarantees you a playoff spot. We're trying to do that, and we're trying to beat every team that you play. |
That was a little bit of an aggressive call, ... That was a run, but I kind of got tired of handing off. I did change up . . . . But I'm doing pretty good for the most part. |
That was an excellent team, and a tough environment coming in here. We knew it was going to be a tough four quarters. It was. |
That's not me. That's not my style, |
The best thing about Marvin, and it's something I've always had, it's the trait of recall, ... Some guys don't remember last week's plays, much less plays from 1999 or 2000. But Marvin does. He doesn't just remember touchdown passes. He'll remember a 7-yard gain on a third-and-4 against Buffalo a few years back. |
The defense has played excellent two weeks in a row, ... I'm very happy with the effort those guys have put forth. |
The disappointing thing is that we played really well this year for a number of games. But certainly two of the last three games here, San Diego and Pittsburgh, we got outplayed. There's no question it's disappointing. There is no question we were in good position with home field and having the bye. At this point, it is hard to swallow. |

The disappointing thing is that we played really well this year in a number of games in September, October and November. |
The easy way out is to win your last four games and finish 8-8 -- you're pumped in the locker room and say, 'Yeah, we can keep this thing going into next year.' Otherwise, unless you win it all, you're going to feel that disappointment. |
