Burke was able to play today, ... But he took a turn for the worse severely last night. And he's on life support. |
But his value goes way beyond his contribution on the field. No. 1, he's an extremely intelligent player. He knows how the game is supposed to be played, and he imparts that knowledge to other players. |
But the bottom line is they did a pretty good job of pitching against us. |
But we bounced back tonight and looked great. |
But when a guy can throw 97 miles an hour like he was last year and he's throwing it right to the corners, and he's got a power slider, that's going to hurt you. You can't hit that guy. That's why he was lights out last year. His control has not been there this year. |
Can't go there. Good question, but I can't get suckered in. I don't know what's going to happen. |
Certainly, it's nice to go on the road and play well. The first night here wasn't kind to us, but we ended up having a split in San Francisco. I'll take it. |
Chavez has done a good job in the past and so has Quintero. He came down with a couple of strains, and he came down with appendicitis, which was a terrible thing to go through, but he's healthy now and having a good spring. Hector didn't play winter ball, but he's looked fundamentally sound. |
Cheo, he's managed in winter ball, and I think he'd like to have some consideration. And both guys are good guys and all that. Hopefully Cheo and Cecil will be in consideration. I think Cecil will make a good manager. |
Chris got more big hits. That triple was an icebreaker, ... We've been trying to find some way to generate offence the past couple of weeks, done whatever we can. |

Chuck continued to manage because he said that's exactly what his mom wanted him to do. He said, 'She wanted me to get to the World Series, but she wanted me to see it through,' and he did. |
Clearly he wasn't the Rocket that we've been seeing, ... He's fine. He feels fine. But I think maybe the sticky part of the mound got to him a little bit. It just seemed he never really got in a groove and never really got comfortable. |
Definitely saw him more in the strike zone. I saw him down in the strike zone more and then saw him go up (in the zone) when he wanted to go up. That's what you wanted to see. You want to see him within basically the mitt most of the time. |
During batting practice, he just felt a little twitch in his back, so we decided to shut him down. We don't think it's serious. |
