I was actually pleasantly surprised today with some of the drives I hit, being able to keep up with John. So maybe I don't need to try to pick up as much yardage as I thought.

I was finding myself having to push and push to keep pace with these guys because I just could see the lead was going lower and lower.

I was fortunate to get off to a good start. Charles is an extremely solid player and he came back with some birdies and I was barely able to hold him off at the end.

I was lucky to hold him off.

I was not just excited, but almost in disbelief there for a week or two. This time, there is a great sense of satisfaction having won, and having been able to beat such a great field.

I was so sad to see what happened on 14. I didn't want to win like that.

I was trying to get the last one to pull even with him. But I just couldn't quite do it.

I was trying to match (Henry's) score today and when I had six holes left, I only needed three birdies. I thought I could do it, but a bogey and double-bogey kind of derailed me there at the end.

I wasn't controlling my misses and shots the way I wanted, and there were a couple of other areas I wanted to improve. I wasn't chipping the ball as close as I needed to. So, I spent some quality time on trying to address those needs.

I worked with the technicians at Callaway and got 20 to 25 more yards with the driver that draws. My normal driver is like a 3-wood. I needed (the extra distance) to combat the added length. This is probably the only course I'll do it. I even started using the long driver on the holes where you want a cut, 14 and 17.

I would certainly love to win the last tournament (played) at La Costa. I'm sorry to see this tournament leave. Obviously I love playing here in San Diego, and the fact that it's eight, 10 minutes from my house is even better.

I would have loved to win Match Play. I'm really sorry to see it leave here. It's always been a special place for me.

I would love to get in that position again. I want to have a chance to win the tournament, obviously. It would be great if I had a chance to go head-to-head with Tiger. It would be great to have a chance to go head-to-head with anybody in the top 10.

I would not say it resembles the U.S. Open because the rough isn't rough -- it's first cut. But the penalty for a missed tee shot on a number of holes now is U.S. Open-type penalties.
