It gave A.J. and the rest of us a better idea where he stands physically. It's left him feeling a little more comfortable about his rehabilitation. And it was good for us, because now we kind of feel that, okay, we can get things done until he gets back.

He threw well. I think it's a relief for him and obviously for guys here to see him out there and coming back.

I feel good, obviously anxious to get going. Those last couple of starts always seem to drag on a little bit. It's going to be fun, we have a good team and to see where we stand here in the first month is going to be fun.

We got to happy, but for us to get into it we got to find ways to win games like that. Finding a way to win it -- that's what is going to get us over the hump. That will make the difference.

Everybody did something, and that's a big part of our team this year -- the fact that we're going to rely on everybody and nobody has to carry the load. To be able to see that type of game the first time out, where everybody's doing something, everybody's involved, that really plays into what we need to do all year.

It stopped a big inning. It kept us in striking distance and gave us a chance to pile up some runs.

That stops the big inning right there. It kept a guy at first and allowed us to stay in striking distance against Santana.

Hopefully it's something that we have a chance to get used to in the future. It's fun and hopefully that's something that will continue this year and we can get that excitement in here for the long term.

They hung in there, they played well and the mistakes I made, they hit. Some days you get away with it. Today wasn't one of those days.

I tried to field it. Fortunately, Russ made a great play. I was just trying to get an out.

For us to get into it, we have to find ways to win games like today. That's the biggest thing for me. Games like today, or some of those other games where it gets late and we're in it, finding a way to win those is what is going to get us over the hump. We have to get that going. Hopefully throughout the season, we'll win those close games.

The pitches they hit weren't very good pitches. To me, that's not a pitch-selection thing. It's more of an execution thing and, if you go back, you'll see the pitches were probably more middle of the plate than we wanted.

They got in there and kind of loosened it up. I feel like it's kind of over and done with.

I had a little bit (of tightness) going into the first start. It was okay. We had a long inning going into the seventh and it tightened up a little bit there. But it wasn't bad. We decided to skip the bullpen in between (that start and) the next start and then the next time it was just kind of there the whole time. It never seemed to go away and loosen up.
