He's going to have to figure out what keeps him from getting 21 in the second half, too. In no way does that diminish his game. I thought he played a terrific game. He only had one turnover and especially in the first half, I thought he was the difference-maker. But man, when you see a guy play like that, everyone wonders, can we get that in the second half, too? |
He's one of those guys that hates to miss a shot more than any player I've ever seen. When he misses one, his response is 'That's it for me'. We want to get him out of that. |
He's the ultimate warrior. To see him give that effort, with his eye and the condition it was in, it really says a lot about him as a kid. |
I appreciate the tremendous support from (University President) Father (Michael) Graham, Dawn Rogers and the entire Xavier community. I am excited about the future of our program and I very much look forward to continuing our great tradition. |
I can't say enough good things about Adam Morrison as a player. ... Relentless. |
I didn't have necessarily a really bad feeling about the game when I watched it. I thought our players played with unbelievable energy. Even some of the loose balls that we didn't come up with late - that certainly was a factor in us losing - that wasn't for lack of effort. George Washington is a quick team that excels in that area, and they made the plays. |
I didn't just come to Xavier; this is my fifth season here. I've known the deal all along. Two years ago, I wasn't the coach and the same thing happened to him. We were 10-9, and the same thing happened. |
I don't know how much we deserved to win. It's tough to play two completely different games like we did. |
I don't know that I've ever witnessed someone as talented as he is and at the same time relentless and nasty -- and I mean that as a compliment. Justin Cage defended him as well as you could. |
I don't know why logistically that hasn't worked out. I can see why we'd want to play them, and I can see certainly why they'd want to play us. |
I don't think that's one thing I'll tell you, I don't think we fully recovered, certain individuals, and as a team, from the way we shot (against Cincinnati). I don't think that was completely behind us. You didn't get that feeling (Sunday) that some shots were going to go in when we shot them from three. |
I just appreciate the support of (university president) Father (Michael) Graham, Dawn Rogers and the entire Xavier community. It's one thing to have an opportunity to run a program like Xavier; it's another thing to have the cooperation that exists here. This is another example of what keeps Xavier so special. |
I knew this was going to be a problem. We've talked about it. Obviously, there's only so much you can do. We don't have a big team. We have to rebound by committee. The rest of the season really hinges on that word - rebounding. Who's going to get them? I don't know. |
I think it gets everybody's attention when you get up at 5:15 in the morning. We'll keep doing it until we get the commitment back. It might go for a while until we figure out where we stand. ... We just need to get a determined group of players on the floor every night. |
I think Saint Louis plays as good a defense as anybody in the country. Playing against them two times, they've given us problems. |
