Obviously, I'm real happy, and my family and I are appreciative for the extension. I'm thankful to Coach [Broyles] and the University of Arkansas for the commitment to the program. It hasn't been a major thing on my mind. I've been more concerned with making improvements and adjustments for the upcoming season. |
Ole Miss is always a war. Both teams are going to battle and be physical. I've quit watching all their road games. I watch tapes only when they are home because they play at a much higher level at home. I've got to make sure our players understand that. |
Ole Miss went on a 14-7 run and that was a turning point. They got some momentum going and we could never get the lead. |
On different nights, different guys step up for them. Their players complement each other very well. They get themselves easy baskets by running the floor and off offensive rebounds. They don't take a lot of difficult shots, and when they do, they balance it with easy shots. |
On film sometimes you say you are doing that in the Patriot League, but he also had 20 something against Kansas and a big game against Syracuse. He's a high level player that just happens to be at a school that maybe doesn't get that much recognition. |
One of the announcers, Seth Davis, picked us to lose the game. I think that's something that grabbed our attention right away. We don't want to just be a happy team just to get into the tournament. We want to go there to win some games. |
Our game is the interior. |
Our league is very strong. It's better than it was in November and December. Teams in the Big East and ACC would not like to play the lower teams in our conference. I hear people say other conferences should get 10 and eight [bids]. We should get at least six teams in the tournament. |
Our strength has never been the three. We definitely want the game more in the paint. |
Our team can play with anybody. The question is, can we beat anybody? Other teams are going to make runs. We have to finish plays, make free throws and do the other things we were doing early in the season. |
Our team played very well at Alabama. That was one of our better road games. We could have made better choices. Where do we go from here? We go to Auburn and get a win. |
Part of his growing process is he's got to learn to play through sickness and illness. I expect him to be 30 percent better by [today ] anyway, but he's got to learn to play through that and he's got to learn to be effective while he's not feeling his best. |
Ronnie has an unselfish nature. But we need him to still be aggressive (on offense). You can't let the other team take you away. |
Ronnie understands that his value to our team is not just in scoring. He's still an impact guy, whether he scores 20 points or 10. He's a humble kid who is trying to get better, and fun to coach. |
Sean (McCurdy) gave us some valuable, valuable minutes, too. |
