We have rejigged the one-day side to what we hope will provide a range of options to take on a formidable World XI side, as well as forming the nucleus of the 2007 squad for the World Cup.

I guess the past 12 months for Matthew in one-day cricket, even by his own admission, hasn't been great for him. We considered that it was now time to move on and try something else,

It doesn't mean he's finished. Also we'd like him to concentrate on his long-form-of-the-game batting and reignite that partnership that he has with Justin Langer because, after all, in Test match cricket they've been fantastic in being the cornerstone behind a lot of big scores.

Age is not a problem for us providing the contribution is still there,

There's no doubt part of the charter that we have is preparing for the future and that's always in the back of our mind as well.

We expect that all three players who have not been selected will go back to state cricket and get back to the sort of form they were in 12 months ago.
