I just felt that like an actor it's really hard to get a really good role. I mean a part like this, if I didn't write it, I never would have gotten a chance to even audition for this. ... So, I felt like I wanted to give myself a break in the movie world. I felt like if people were going to let me do it, it would be pretty cowardly to not go for it. I think Jersey is a character (in the film), and there's a dual meaning with a state of mind - a garden is where things begin.

It was pretty much the last person we found - an independent financier who paid for the whole thing out of his pocket.

They all saw my short films, and I think that changed their opinion of me as just a guy on a sitcom because they liked my movie.

But my mother's a psychologist, my stepfather's a psychologist, my stepmother is a therapist and my dad's a lawyer. So it was all prominent in my life. I don't know anyone who doesn't know someone on some form of prescription medicine.

It used to be that you came out of school, and you got married - those who were going to get married. But my peers are getting married in their early 30s, so now there's like this extra 10 years of that angst.

Maybe that happens for the filmmakers, but I don't really feel that. I think they felt that before people started seeing the movie and Disney started to see what they had. And Disney saw some early reviews and that thing from Time came in and I think they were feeling a little bit of pressure. Then they started to see that they really had something good as you can see what they are putting into marketing.

I wish I was that important of an actor that that happened. 'Which do you want Zach? Take your pick.' No. I sort of put it out there that I wanted to do an animated movie. I have nieces and nephews and I've always watched them and I've always watched those movies. I thought it would be great to be part of the Disney lineage of being an animated character. When this project came up, I asked to audition. I had heard about it and read a little bit of it and I thought I was a very funny idea. The idea of not just doing a Chicken Little story. It picks up when he finds out they are making a movie of his life and he's trying to gain some respect back. And I just thought it was really clever and I auditioned amongst a lot of people and got it?I've been involved for about two years. As you know, they've been doing it for about five years. But I've been recording voices on and off for two years. Probably every other month. Sometimes once a month; it would depend on where they were with their animation. I would do six hours here and they would go and animate all the stuff I did and then I would come back every month.

Ibland en gång i månaden; det berodde på var de var med sin animation. Jag kunde göra sex timmar här och sedan skulle de animera allt jag gjort och sedan kom jag tillbaka varje månad.

I'm by no means condemning prescription medicine for mental health. I've seen it save a lot of people's lives.
