 It is a fundamental and profound disappointment. The government made a goal to have reform of the Common Agricultural Policy. All they have is promises.

 My feeling is that the US domestic support proposal will have a comparable effect to the European Union's 2003 reform of its Common Agricultural Policy,

 The Union, which is already the world's leading importer of agricultural products from developing countries, has shown its commitment to success by reforming the Common Agricultural Policy,

 Frankly, I think Europe should have no shame given the efforts that have been undertaken, given the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy that was undertaken in 2003 and given the opening of Europe in general.

 The government and the regime want to send a message to us ... that there is nothing new and that all the promises it made for political reform must be forgotten.

 When we ran for Student Government last year, we ran on a higher education reform. This campaign is our answer to some of the promises that we made.

 The problem with the big issues, Social Security reform, campaign finance reform, fundamental tax reform, is that they are so politically dangerous that I think both sides want to avoid them.

 Sudan's ruling party has shunted aside fundamental reforms required by the peace agreement. Khartoum has failed to reform the security agencies and the law on political parties. Promises to open up the political arena have not been kept.
