en It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

en If you get the seventh goal in a 7-0 game, big deal. But any goal has meaning, you know, even if it's the third goal and it's 3-0. I mean, they can still come back and get three goals.

en We have struggled a little with scoring goals. In earlier games this season, we found ways to score goals late in the game and we just haven't been finding ways to do that lately. One goal can really change the complex of a game.

en We got into some penalty trouble to let them into the game. They got some penalties to allow us to come back. The first three goals for each team was a wash. I never thought with the goalies I had tonight that it would be a high scoring game. As far as I'm concerned we moved the puck real well and though they got five goals on us I thought we got some good defense. The defense took guys to the outside better then they have in past games. It all just went really well. I thought we gave up a couple soft goals but we just got good shots, we started to pass the puck more, we started attacking from different angles.

en We set very high goals at the beginning of the season, and I think eventually the guys started to realize we were pretty good and buying into it. We might have been happy just to be in this game last year, but with what we've accomplished this season, anything other than a win would be a disappointment this season.

en We felt for the second half that we just wanted to try and score a goal. We needed to come out and have a bit of pride and to not take out one of our forwards for someone who is going to kick the ball aimlessly forward. I'd rather sacrifice more goals just to get one goal.

en I think our guys started playing with a lot of pride there at the end. They didn't want the season to be over with so they were fighting, scratching, doing everything they could to stay in the game.

en The message this morning was we took a lot of pride in being a very disciplined club, and I thought we were undisciplined. I thought it started with myself behind the bench. We have to get the composure back, stay away from the officials and not worry about the call. We're going to get some, we're not gonna get some. We've taken a lot of pride in that, and I think we started using that as an excuse. We wiped that off the board again.

en We're going to go game by game right now. But our first goal is to score more goals this season.

en The key for us is to not back down. We have to realize that until the game is over we have a chance to win. Early in the season last year, we would get down by three or four goals and we would let it get to five or six. But at the end of the year we had two one-goal overtime games. It just takes an atmosphere of competing and knowing that you always have a chance.

en We didn't feel like the game was in hand, but it felt good. We haven't given up two goals in a game all season, so we knew we if we got one goal early, we were going to get out of regulation.

en My goal is zero (fumbles), ... and I had two in one game. That's very uncharacteristic of myself. But I've got to be perfect. I can't make mistakes.

en Greg needs to step up and play well if we are to have success this season. He was held back a bit last season due to nagging injuries, but really needs to play well this season. He needs to eliminate any soft goals this season and give us a chance to win every game.

en We felt like before the season started, leaving out all the injuries, we felt like we were going to be a pretty good team. We started out slow due to injuries. It kind of set us back a little bit. But winning that home game (against the Boston Celtics), then going on a six-game road trip, that was either going to make us or break us. It was really going to determine our season. We were hungry, and we were really confident and went 5-1.
