 I had a driver in my hand, then went to a 3-iron and then went back to a driver because it is, usually, my best club.

 The conditions are perfect. When it's warm, the ball does go farther and it makes the golf hole a lot shorter. That's why the first hole I hit driver, nine-iron and yesterday I hit a driver, five-iron. So that's the difference with the wind.

 On some of the par-fours I'll be hitting driver, three-iron and other guys will be hitting driver, seven-iron.

 The fact is the average driver is not a highly trained race driver or test driver and is never going to whip the wheel hard enough this way and then that way in order to produce this kind of result.

 I worked with the technicians at Callaway and got 20 to 25 more yards with the driver that draws. My normal driver is like a 3-wood. I needed (the extra distance) to combat the added length. This is probably the only course I'll do it. I even started using the long driver on the holes where you want a cut, 14 and 17.

 I'd been working in the off-season to get this longer driver in play. We got it dialed in to where I could hit a very long draw.  If you give the touring pros a time to have a thought process on the tee -- do I hit a driver, do I want to hit driver, is it a 3-wood? -- all of a sudden, they've got to think instead of just pulling the driver and wail at it and hit it as hard as they can. And that creates a little more tension, a little more anxiety for the guys, and if you're not on your game, you're not going to perform as well.

 A lot of guys hit driver off that hole, but it's a narrow fairway with out of bounds on the left and right. So I hit iron (2-iron) off the tee like I did last year because I knew I could still get home in two.

 When I started, you got a driver and you learned how to hit the driver. That's isn't the case today. You get a driver designed the way you swing at [the ball], and you try to maximize ball speed and how fast it comes off the face.

 You can't be absent for your first five classes and then show up for driver's ed. They knew if they missed an earlier period they couldn't go to driver's ed, and if they didn't go to driver's ed, they couldn't get their license. There was a real incentive for them to keep all their grades up.

 At the end of each episode the most improved driver graduates from the program and leaves. By the end the worst driver remains and he or she is crowned Canada's worst driver.

 It used to be, just get up there and rip the driver as hard as you could. Now you have to think on that tee. I'm going to hit 3-wood and then 8-iron or 9-iron.
