 Getting thrown in like that is a tough way to make your debut. In between periods I talked to Dunham, and he said to go out there and relax. After that I played as I always played.

 I hadn't thrown that well the last few games but knew that I need to come up big today. There were some tough situations out there but I just tried to relax and breathe. And the defense was really incredible today and it helped me to relax knowing they would make the plays.

 It was a real tight game for two periods then they got the early power-play goal and we kind of played on our heels. We had our chances though. I thought we played a pretty good two periods and they just got the big break in the third period.

 Pittsburgh is very good defensively. They are tough to run against. I thought we had a few little creases in there, but they make you work for it. They are tough...I thought everybody played competitively. We played hard and got some tough yards. Every yard is tough against this team.

 The key to our win was our goaltending and our defense. Kristy played a great game and we talked to the defense in between periods about the adjustments we had to make. (Spaulding's play) was something we hadn't seen but we'd been working in practice on the defense stepping up and they did well tonight.

 For the first two periods, we played a great road game. A couple of unfortunate bounces wound up in (our net). It's a tough position to be in.

 It's really tough to keep putting guys out there who have never really played that position before and they're just kind of thrown in the fire.

 It looks like it's favorable, but it's not, ... Those teams have played us very well. It would be an absolute mistake for us to think this is favorable. Milwaukee's played us tough, and Pittsburgh's played us tough and the Cubs can play us tough. ... These guys will play us good, and we can not expect anything to be given to us. That's a fact.

 Today I got a shutout but I want to say the team played unbelievable today on the offensive end and in the defensive zone. Two periods they don't give any chance to San Jose and the third period we played a 5-on-3 and San Jose can't score a goal on two breakaways and that's it. I thought we played really well.

 We went out and played a great first two periods, probably the best two periods of the whole series, and then we sat back on our heels, which is a no-no. It's very disappointing and shocking.

 In the first and fourth periods, we played with intensity. It goes back to summer camps, where we played in a lot of close games and won a lot of them. We have a lot of veteran players.

 It was real tough. Marc played the last three games for us and played as good as he's played in his career for us. Pascal, unfortunately, got a bad neck injury and Marc had to come in. It's tough coming in against the Red Wings on a power play.
