With Tokyo down and gezegde

 With Tokyo down and the Dow futures down there was plenty of reason to sell.

 The futures market has been driving the live market prices. Today (Jan. 20) was not a good day to sell cattle. I probably won't try to sell any cattle for a couple more months. But, we've existed for the past two years without any export markets. It can only get better.

 I have heard that some of the sell programs have been buying Russell 2000 futures.

 Everyone is waiting for Wednesday, and it looks like the futures market bears have used the wait-and-see mood to sell a bit and play downwards.

 I'm still looking for places to sell the dollar. We're assuming that the Fed is nearing the end of its tightening cycle. That's a reason to sell dollars.

 There was a sell-off at the end, a counterintuitive sell-off, a contrarian one, on a day there was some reason to worry about supply.

 I don't think this is a supply and demand issue at all. There is plenty of oil out there. I think the biggest thing going on is there is massive speculation on the markets where hedge funds and other groups are buying oil futures ahead of the traditional run-up in prices to guarantee a return on their investment.

 Speculators have no reason to scare people with shortages. And you can see this because futures are dropping and prices will continue to drop.

 One reason the futures may be up is because the latest economic data have been a bit softer than expected and that better for the direction of interest rates.

 These livestock futures declines are all feeding off one another. You can't isolate just one reason for the lower prices. It's all inter-related.

 Speculators have no reason to scare people with shortages. And you can see this because futures are dropping and prices will continue to drop,

 Tokyo is so hectic, but inside the hotel it's very silent. And the design of it is interesting. It's weird to have this New York bar... the jazz singer... the French restaurant, all in Tokyo. It's this weird combination of different cultures.

 We're having one of our mildest winters, yet crude and products futures are rallying. There's a tremendous amount of speculative money going into energy futures.
