It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

I think the Mavericks -- our team -- we've kind of forgotten who we are as basketball team and what made us successful. It wasn't shots on the offense. It wasn't holding the ball. We've kind of looked like some of our old teams with one guy pounding the ball instead of ball movement and player movement. We haven't been physical. Is that because we've been fatigued? I don't know. I know we've been a step slow. I can see that -- mentally and physically. We just need to get back to being who we are, and I think that will give us a better chance to win some of these games.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

He has outstanding ball skills. He's a smart player. He anticipates well. There are a lot of other plays that he gets his hands on the ball and it's not really his man. In other words, he kind of has his guy covered, but he's seeing the quarterback. He sees the ball thrown and then he breaks on the ball . . . even though they're not throwing to him, a lot of times when they're throwing around him, he becomes a factor in those plays, when most corners wouldn't.

He's got a gift for catching the ball. That's just a phenomenal catch. You're going to see a lot of that. He's the kind of guy that's going to have plays on ESPN. He's that kind of player.

Jack Del Rio (1902-)

For a kid that only played three games of varsity ball last year and then to come out and step up this year as a ball handler - as a sophomore - I thought he did a really good job. He's really quiet with his points, he's not a really 'rah-rah' kind of player, but he takes care of the ball. He knows where the ball is supposed to go. He sees the floor very well. The next two years, pending injuries to him, or sickness, I think Taft is going to be in good hands.

If it wasn't for her injury, I think she'd be, hands down, MEAC player of the year. She's a great player. She's just incredible. She can do some many things with the ball and without the ball. She's a smart player.

He's an offensive player, he's a defensive player and if you here anybody out here screaming it's probably him. He is the kind of person that out of the blue will knock somebody's lights out to get everyone on the team fired up, and that is that kind of player he is on the field.

Tad took the ball out of bounds and gave it up to me, which, he was the best player in the state and he gave it up, so that said what kind of player he was. No one was covering me, and I drove down the length of the court and pulled up and let her fly.

Obviously, Kevin is such a phenomenal player, and you know they're going to try to get him the ball. Justin gets a lot of credit for his offense. But I thought his defense was great. He didn't let him get the ball. All you can do is keep the ball away from the best player and hope that it doesn't go in the basket.

She's fun and a great player. It's kind of a tease. You get this great ball player for a year and then she's gone. I wish I had more time with her. She's a big reason we made it this far.

That's the kind of player she is. When she is up against it, she's not going to shy away. She wants the ball.

Nick's a great player. He's a better player than he was a year ago and his numbers show that. He's a good player. So, I'm not stupid. I'm going to throw the ball to him. I'm going to tell the other guys to throw the ball to him. That's what any coach would do.

It was kind of what I call new-age basketball. The passing game was just starting with lots of ball movement and player movement. These guys just believed in it, moving without the ball. It was constant motion and everyone was copying UCLA's 2-3 press, and we used it pretty effectively.

He loves to play the game. He will run through a fence to get a ball. That is the kind of player we want.

Last year, she carried us on her back all the way through the tournament. She's that kind of player. She'll take the ball. Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it.
