 I saw the Ark as an educational tool to take the message of alcohol and drug awareness into (catering) colleges, ... Our motto is `In service of others'. It was not about egos, not about people using the Ark to promote themselves.

 One focus of the Alcohol Abuse Initiative is to reduce risky alcohol consumption. Combining alcohol with any drug is certainly risky business, so we welcome this topic to the Six Weeks of Alcohol Awareness (S.W.A.A.T.) lineup.

 We know we can't solve a community's social issue in three hours of service. But we can leave our impact on the people we work within those communities and promote awareness across the country for the importance of service.

 People not only had economic issues, at that time we began to see an epidemic of drug and alcohol abuse. Drug and alcohol addiction made it difficult for many to hold jobs and keep the family together.

 The drug of choice for most young people is alcohol. When we talk about treatment in New Hampshire, treatment covers alcohol and drug issues. Both are usually the problem.

 A lot of people think we take items and give them to people in need. Most often, we sell them in the thrift store. And all those proceeds go to a very specific service: drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers.

 I think it would be great if any [alcohol and drug] service got that money.

 Our main objective is to get into the schools during the day to promote character building and drug awareness. We do that by getting their (students) attention with feats of strength.

 That required people to get up from their houses or their desks to go someplace. Now anyone who has a computer, a modem and an Internet service can log into these conferences. It becomes an easier tool for getting the message.

 Prior to Marilyn Monroe, a star's life was hidden from the public. But now, instead of a glossy ideal, we see celebrity's ugly messes, including their drug and alcohol abuse, which, for many who admire these people, translates into a very dangerous message.

 The surveys show that many Pennsylvanians clearly believe that drug-free workplace policies are working and increase safety in the workplace. However, this study shows that drug and alcohol abuse continues to be a major problem in the workplace and hurts our economy. More companies, especially small- to mid-sized companies, need to implement drug-free workplace programs to reduce drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace.  (Abbas) goes by the motto of 'one authority, one law, one security service'. But we don't see him putting this motto into use.
