 This whole thing about paying your dues in skating and finally one day you're going to get rewarded for it, I don't believe in this. It doesn't matter who you are, or wherever you're from, you should have a fair chance. If a newcomer skates the best that night they should win. This system is veering toward that and it's allowing it to happen.

 He's not selfish with the puck at all. He likes to pass, he likes to get it in close. As you look at the stats other players have high scoring chances, but they don't have many assists and Derek does.

 I was just trying to focus on the puck and give our guys a chance to win. You have to control the things you can control and for me, that's stopping the puck.

 I thought we dominated the play and what we really need to do is possess the ball for the most part. We haven't been the most prolific scoring team, but I think we're coming on. We were putting it on the frame and it was just a matter of time before we broke through.

 They have a lot of superstars and they can put the puck in the net and create a lot of scoring chances. But Nabokov and our defense kept holding, kept holding, and we finally got a chance on the power play.
