But he may also be as good as it gets under this administration.

 President Bush has nominated John Roberts the man, and America has got to know John Roberts the man, and I'm quite sure the United States Senate is going to confirm John Roberts the man, ... Please don't check any of that at the door when you walk into the United States Supreme Court.

 Jeff Van Gundy is a Baxter. Derek Jeter? So not a Baxter. Howard Stern is not a Baxter. And Bernie Kerik is not a Baxter.

 This ad grossly distorts the record of John Roberts from start to finish. It has only one goal: to associate John Roberts with violent extremists.

 That's not John Roberts. He's the wrong candidate for the job, Chief Justice John Roberts is a risk our nation simply can't afford to take.

 Virtually anybody who either voted for John Roberts or against John Roberts said the hearings were fair, and they learned enough to make up their mind,

 I do, however, recognize that this is a different time, and he has been nominated to play a different kind of role than he played in those early Reagan years. So, frankly, I will be looking for a somewhat different John Roberts than the John Roberts of 1985.

 By becoming John Roberts the chief justice, don't ever forget to be John Roberts the man. When you put on your black robe and assume your spot on the Supreme Court, you will truly bring with you your heart and your soul.

 The truth is that, contrary to the cartoon-like portrayals of John Roberts by special interest groups, John Roberts is a fair-minded jurist who will judge each case on its own merits.

 There are little moments when Ted Baxter seeps through. His voice sinks down... there's a momentary expression. Ted Baxter is an extension of Ted Knight. I'll never completely divorce myself from that guy. But Baxter was limited, he only reacted, he couldn't resolve a critical situation.

 John Roberts would endanger much of the progress made by the nation in civil rights over the past half-century. If John Roberts replaces Sandra Day O'Connor, the balance of the court will shift to the right for decades to come, imperiling Americans' constitutional rights and liberties. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. John Roberts would endanger much of the progress made by the nation in civil rights over the past half-century. If John Roberts replaces Sandra Day O'Connor, the balance of the court will shift to the right for decades to come, imperiling Americans' constitutional rights and liberties.

 Well, I knew I couldn't lift 15 inches of snow in a snow shovel. So I thought I'd get it twice. Get when it's about five inches and then when it's ten and then maybe again when it's fifteen.

 With the confirmation of John Roberts, the Supreme Court will embark upon a new era in its history, the Roberts era. For many years to come, long after many of us have left public service, the Roberts court will be deliberating on some of the most difficult and fundamental questions of U.S. law.
