en I was 10th my first year. I finished fifth the next year and third last season, now I'm looking to win it all.

en Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

en We feel pretty good about where we're at right now versus last year. Right now last year we were in 12th (he finished the season fourth). Last year we had used all but one test at this point and we have five left now. We're in a lot better shape this year.

en It's still a lot of fun. You know, every year is a little different. Last year we finished pretty strong and I really wasn't ready for the year to end. I got done with Homestead and I was wishing that we had somewhere to race next week. This year, I really don't know until we get going. Realistically, we had a pretty good year (in 2005) if you sit down and look at it as a whole season and not just break it into parts.

en [We've] finished a little better than we have in the past. Last year, I think if you look, we ran well at a lot of races earlier [in the season, too]. We just made some mistakes, some things were costly to us. We didn't win as early as we should have last year. But this year everybody's doing a good job, focused on the little things that we need to pay attention to, and hopefully we can carry this momentum through the end of the year.

en The way we finished last year, winning at New Mexico State, is something that we talked about throughout the year and will be important this season. We have to learn to win on the road to become a winning program and to be able to compete for league championships. We will have a lot of opportunities to do that this season.

en It's the worst season I have had as far as records go after my first year of coaching. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. It is the first time I have ever been lower than third in the league. I have only been third twice in 32 years. Every other year we have finished first or second.

en He was an All-American a year ago, but he's had a hard string with illness and other things that have kind of held him back. He was ranked 13th and ended up 10th, so he did improve on his ranking. Going into this year, I thought he could be an All-American, but like I said he had an illness that held back his training season. Hopefully this will get him started for the outdoor season.

en I think everybody around our program is going into this game with a good feeling, primarily because of the way we finished the season. Last year, we went into it losing two out of three and kind of scuffling, and this year were going in with everyone anxious, looking forward to it, wanting to get to the semis.

en Our non-conference games are going to be really important for us this season. Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference, which was huge because last year we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. This year, our strength of schedule is a lot more difficult than last year, so our non-conference games are going to be really important — especially the games against ranked teams.

en We spent next year's No. 1 to get a guy who was ranked 10th on our board this year, ... What's that worth? Unless we wind up in the top 10 of next year's draft -- and we think we're going to a better team than that -- we can live with that price. This building is pumped. We've added to our offense and our defense, and we've got a quarterback we can build around.

en These guys wrestled great all year. We finished in the top five in every tournament and finished in the top 10 in the state. You couldn't ask for any more than what we did this year.

en That year we opened the season with them in the Hall of Fame Game and finished their season for them in '97, so we've actually played pretty well against them.

en Personally, I'm satisfied with how the season went. You always expect perfection, but how we finished this season will set a good tone for next year.
