 It's been really nice. I can go down to Mike's classroom now and talk basketball. He's really turned things around in a short period of time.

 They don't even talk about basketball. It's telling you straight out: Obviously, you have to make time for basketball. But academics come first. You have to take care of business in the classroom to even have a chance to play. If you don't succeed in the classroom, you aren't getting on the court.

 It's not enough for me to just say I'm sorry for the things I did. I have to basically live out the sorry part with everything I do on a daily basis. But, yeah, being here, just looking around this place, being on the field with such great players, shows me how far I've come in a very short period of time. It is like heaven to me. And it reminds me that, whatever I've done to get things turned around in my life, well, I've got to keep doing it.

 With short preparation, you've got to obviously concentrate on yourself as much as anything else. We'll put together a report in a quick period of time for our guys, but more than anything we want to have the ability to play our best basketball doing the things that we do well, and that's probably more of our concentration.

 All summer I kept hearing negative talk about him. I think he's staying because this is his passion. The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. He focuses on basketball. He doesn't travel. He just wants to teach basketball. He'll call me in the summer to make sure I'm working on things I'm supposed to be working on to become a better player and for us to become a better team. Basketball is his life. All he does is talk basketball, basketball, basketball.

 I had to find different things to do with myself that first year. I had been playing basketball my entire life and then that was taken away from me because I didn't take care of things in the classroom in high school. Sitting out, made me realize how much basketball meant to me.

 Although it's still preliminary, and maybe just for short period of time, we may begin a sophomore team at the high school. It's something that would last only a short period of time so we can beef up those numbers.

 They're a good basketball team. They're going to be very tough out in their league. We gave up 24 points in a very short period of time.

 Mike and I have been talking about it for quite a long time. He did suggest it once and I turned him down. I didn't think it was the right time. Mike will be involved as one of the trusted people in the hockey business.

 We'll have some quality practice time. This year, the schedule is so compact with so many games in such a short period of time that will be nice to get to work on our system.

 Coach (Mike) Noll brought a lot of discipline with him from McHenry (his former coaching position) and has turned things around quicker than many people expected. They have some nice runners and good receivers. It should be a battle.

 The first period, we were not very good. It was our worst period of hockey in a while. The second period we turned it around and the goal we did get was a short-handed goal.

 We talk about coming up short all the time. What's been our driving force is we still have a shot at a CCS title in basketball.

 I made a visit to every classroom in the district last week, ... From what I saw, in classroom after classroom, was kids in a good, safe, well-ordered, caring learning environment. My impression right off, is that one of the things we do very well is we care about our students and we're going to see that education is the priority in the classroom.

 I was more concerned that if we didn't make a change that we wouldn't get it turned around. I understand that it's a very short period of time for us to turn this around .B .B . we're in a battle with a lot of good hockey teams.
