 Tina Charles is a perfect example of everything that is right in girl's high school athletics. Not only does she light up the scoreboard, but she is a wonderful student who has earned several academic honors. She is a role model for young women and she represents what it means to be a McDonald's All American.

 Mindy demonstrated incredible fortitude and responsibility by overcoming her Type 1 diabetes in order to play at a high level. In addition, she has been a role model in the classroom, earning GNAC Academic all-conference honors.

 I am excited to bring these six young women to the IU Bloomington campus to help the Hoosiers compete for the Big Ten title. They bring size, speed, skill and a high level of experience. Coupled with their academic prowess and wonderful personalities, they will play a huge role next season.

 He has a young outlook on life. He's just a wonderful, wonderful role model. He's just young at heart.

 I'm extremely proud of the women for this accomplishment. We're here to go to school and that's reflected by the women's work in the classroom. More times than not, the better schools in the country have student-athletes who are talented both in athletics and academics.

 I think she is a very important teacher for all three of the girls as far as a female role model and an academic role model, If you want to do something, do something for the arts.

 I think we can say something good about high school basketball. Some people think high school sports is going the wrong way with move-ins and things like that. We're a community team. These kids have known each other since the third grade. We can be a role model for how it should be done.

 I'm happy that she's going to be included in this activity. She's a high school student, and athletics is part of her education. They were denying her the opportunity.

 We're confident that the proposed middle school program, with its emphasis on communication arts and mathematics, will improve student performance at this level. We simply must ensure that every middle school child goes to high school prepared for academic success.

 As a role model for young girls and women, I just encourage them to continue their education and set their goals. And for me, mine are just really high and I just happen to be a professional basketball player but I really am a stickler for my goals and I wanted to get my Master's.

 We're very proud of those young men from Conroe High School. They have worked hard through their careers to achieve this academic honor. It's a reflection on them and their families that they have taken their studies so serious. These young men are a reflection of the guys we want in our program. They are well-rounded students who all have bright futures. We're proud that they represent Conroe High School in such a fine fashion.

 Obviously we would like to see those statistics higher. But this is a process that the NCAA member institutions are going through to change behavior and essentially ensure the student athletes, coaches and everyone involved in collegiate athletics understands that academic achievement and academic performance is just as important as athletic performance.

 In high school, he was recruited; he was an All-American. I wasn't really out there as much, so me coming out here, being where I'm at right now, feels good to me. He got the best of me in high school. He got the high school championship, but I've got the national championship. That means a lot more to me.

 I have the perspective of both sides, being a teacher at the high school and being a coach. The kids have to recognize that we aren't trying to make it exclusive or too hard, but it should not be a right to be a participant in athletics — it should be a privilege that should occur after the academic side is taken care of.

 I hope young girls will now see me as a role model that will inspire them, ... I certainly hope more and more of them will be better off, women in Liberia, women in Africa, I hope even women in the world.
