 Microsoft is a target because it has a huge bucket of money so I'm a little worried about litigation risk. What if Microsoft was held accountable for the costs associated with damage from hackers?

 As we increased the riskiness of a target, the neurons' activity would go up in the same way the monkey's frequency of choosing that target would go up. It was amazing the degree to which the activity of these neurons paralleled the behavior of the monkeys. They looked like they were signaling, in fact, the monkeys' subjective valuation of that target.

 Microsoft withstood an awful lot. First it was the Web, Internet applications [and] Netscape, then cell phones and Linux, and now it's Web 2.0. We've come full circle. Microsoft has already proven they can weather the storm, so you have to assume they're going to play in this game.

 Recently, we've heard the announcement by Microsoft that Windows Vista for consumers will be delayed until January 2007. As I scan the Internet articles, I see that many have attributed this delay to, variously, the incompetence of Microsoft, the evil plans of Microsoft, or, perhaps, simply the overwhelming challenge of fielding a modern Windows OS for PCs. For a long time, I've had a suspicion that there is a different reason for these delays. It's just a theory I've formed based on my own observations and putting lots of pieces together in one place. Bear with me for a paragraph or two while I set this up. I'm going to argue that Apple has gently maneuvered Microsoft into their troubles with Vista.

 From my perspective, what Microsoft is doing is right on target.

 We talked about it the week we were undefeated, about how we've always been the one chasing the team with the target on their back. Now we seem to be the one wearing the target.

 He's now a target and is probably not used to being a target. Will and Curtis know every time we play the other team's focus is going to be that they have to stop these two guys.

 It's not a people target, it is an expense target, ... We do not expect a significant impact to the head-count at GTE.

 It is the responsibility of the person who is shooting to be sure that they have a safe target and that there is nothing in line with that target that they don't want to shoot, especially another hunter.
