 It's sectionals. It always means a lot to me. I knew from before, he's a good wrestler. I had the mindset this year that I have to get back that match. I had to do it.

 If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. Jay is a pretty good wrestler and very solid. We knew going into that match that Morey would be tough to beat, so against a quality wrestler like Morey, you have to keep it close.

 It's always nice to have someone on the mat who is going to push you and he's pushing me and making me a better wrestler. Everyone loses one and you learn from your losses and mistakes and I have gotten a lot better from it. He's a good wrestler and I'm a good wrestler and I just had a better match.

 Chris Low's match was a nice win. He beat a good wrestler. At 119, Neal West had another good match against a solid wrestler.

 The pin, I wasn't expecting that. I knew he had a decent chance to win the match. He tied it up with three back points and my mindset was to get the match into overtime. But he got the pin. That should be a confidence boost for him.

 He's always been a good wrestler, but I think he matured a lot more as a wrestler this year. A lot of times last year he tried to do fancy things and was on his back a lot more times last year. This year he was a lot more dominant and in better control.

 I just reminded myself that there was still a lot of time left in the match. I knew I had to stay on my toes. He's a really good wrestler.

 I got a chance to talk to the Shelton coach before the match and we knew it would be a good one. Fish is only a sophomore but he is a very gifted wrestler.

 We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

 I feel good so far, but I'm trying to take it one match at a time. I have a different mindset going into matches thinking about last year.

 It's a big jump from sectionals to state. There are a lot of tough wrestlers up in the Chicago area. We're going to go up there and battle and see what we can come back with. Some of the guys wrestled great just to get there, but they all have the mindset to bring home a medal, so that's what we're going up there to fight for.

 In Pat's younger years, he was sporadic and he often would make the wrong moves at the wrong times to put himself in a bad position. Experience is one of the best teachers and Pat is a much wiser wrestler these days. He has become a very good technician and he makes much better decisions. Pat is now a much more consistent wrestler from one match to the next.

 Grant is a good wrestler and Steve had to work for that one. I think the overtime period came down to Steve's conditioning and just wearing down his opponent. When Steve is in a close match, I don't worry too much about him. Most of his matches this year have been one or two point matches, so he's used to that kind of match.

 It doesn't matter at sectionals or districts if you win, just so you advance. At state, everyone is good and you have to be prepared for each match. Last year I won districts but I was so nervous. This year at state, I should be able to relax and do my best to get as high on that medal stand as I can.

 He's a beast. I got to see just how good a wrestler he is. You don't win a title (in 2005) and place second (this year) and not be a good wrestler.
