It started off as gezegde

It started off as this little joke and ended very grandiose – kind of like the theme from 'The Muppet Show,' – kind of how that was humorous but it was supposed to be very grand at the same time, very operatic, ... When everyone came back, Billie heard it and he was like, 'Oh, my God. That sounds so fun. I want to do one.' So he did one. He connected it to mine. ... We just kept playing musical hot potato.

He asked us to write a song. We went home, and we were out walking the dog and started playing with lyrics and melody. Annette has a wonderful ear for music. She kind of started out in musical comedy, and she's always been a singer and dancer - but she's never been a songwriter before, but she just has a great natural sense of what sounds good.

I'd heard the first track on the Rufus Wainwright record (Want One), Oh What A World, which is worth the admission fee alone, ... It's just the most audacious thing I've heard in a long time. It's on a sort of Pet Sounds level. It's refreshing to hear that kind of thing. So Marius' philosophy is very much 'more is more,' whereas mine is 'less is more.'

We kind of started the game playing on our heels, playing not to lose. But we bounced back from that and started attacking again. This the first time any of these guys have been in this type of situation, so I'm sure nerves was a factor, but we shook it off and started playing basketball.

[Going from one] jukebox musical ... I read the script for Lennon and thought this is right up my alley. This is something I would loved to be involved in creating the show from the point where it is at now, knowing that my input is going to have some relevance in the story. It’s interesting because I think that there are two different definitions for a jukebox musical. The first is the kind of Mamma Mia!, Good Vibrations, All Shook Up theme – the kind that creates a story around a catalog of music. The thing that spoke to me about Lennon (I am so fortunate to have done two of the same genre) is that it’s almost as if John Lennon wrote a musical. It’s hard to say. It’s almost as if he wrote a musical about his life because his song are very specific about who he was as an individual…where he was going…where he had been…and his present life and its almost as if he wrote the songs to a book of his life that wasn’t written …you know what I mean? So that’s what really interested me about it. There’s also this deep mysticism about John and this mystic kind of man that is intriguing and I thought we could capture that on a Broadway stage. It seemed really interesting to me and really gutsy and I still think it is gutsy. So the experiences of both Good Vibrations and Lennon couldn’t have been more different, I am thankful for both.

Wimbledon has taken a lot of pressure off my back, you know. I really started to feel that I should do better in Grand Slams. But then to end up winning it the way I did there really kind of just relieved me, big time.

It kind of became a bit of a joke. A lot of the time you're down there you don't see anything being accomplished so you end up standing around looking at something and not doing anything and then still calling yourself a volunteer and ?Team Hero' n so it kind of became a joke upon ourselves.

Everybody seems to think Madeleine sounds like Billie Holiday, ... I think that's OK, but it's really not all that important an observation. She sounds a little bit like Billie to me, but that's not anything to make a big deal about it.

I never really enjoyed playing acoustic before. But now I really kind of like it. I find myself playing in that style a lot more. I still deep down prefer playing electric guitar. There is a lot of energy there. But it is great to be able to sit on a stool and play and be able to showcase your musical ability over having to put on a show.

I started off kind of slow, but came back and ended up making a lot of birdies. I putted well and capitalized every time I hit a good shot.

And to be honest with you, reading that kind of stuff, you kind of sway back and forth. You know you're good. At the same time you look at what the supposed experts think and you're kind of like, 'Maybe we're not.' But we are. We're that good.

It's been one of the biggest things that this museum has ever done. Most people with some kind of knowledge of [the Negro Leagues] thought it was some kind of vagabond league, and it turns into some kind of grandiose story.

Commodore 64 er datamaskinen som tiltrekker seg demo-programmering. The song is Texas having a fresh look at that Giorgio Moroder vibe of uplifting electronic pop but with sexy slow vocals. I wanted to combine modern sounds with a real Billie Holliday kind of feel. When I was growing up my dad would be away at sea and my Mum, my sister and I would be at home blasting disco and Abba alongside her old Billie Holliday albums. I knew the spirit I wanted. I knew I could emulate that Billie Holliday sensibility - not the framed icon with the beautiful flower in her hair, but the slightly dark woman on the edge, this tortured brave singer who struggled around this merciless music circuit. It's a bit of a homage from my heart.

This record is a showcase of where we've been over the past two years. We've done a lot of touring. We've grown up. We've mastered our instruments much better. We've become better musicians. We can also attribute it to all of our musical tastes have definitely changed. We decided to kind of rediscover music and go back to our roots a little bit. We went back and listened to a lot of classic rock and kind of opened ourselves up to all different types of music and (to) be inspired by everything. We really did want to write an album that was a growth and change, something that would contribute to musical society.

A young man opened the door and announced that Kennedy had been shot. At first I thought, what kind of a stupid pre-Thanksgiving joke was that to pull. But he said it was no joke, that he'd heard it on the radio,
