 We both came from small, close families and we each have one brother. We married after our freshman year and after serving as youth minister in a few churches, I became the pastor of Ferris Avenue Baptist Church at 26 years old and have been here ever since.

 There was a lot of Southern Baptist preachers and some yelling ones but mostly we had a pastor who didn't scream and I found a lot of comfort and joy and peace as a child hearing the Bible.

 Initially, we wanted to make sure that, if the storm continued on a path toward New Orleans and the smart thing was to evacuate, my 80-something-year-old aunt knew she could come to Baton Rouge.  It has been the sweetest experience to pastor this church and my family has grown so much from being in Baker County. The people here are the salt of the earth. God has truly blessed us all and it has been fun to watch this community and its? churches grow and prosper. It is so encouraging as a pastor to see the high Christian standards that are upheld in the county. It has been a privilege and my sincere honor to be allowed to serve First Baptist of Glen and the residents of Baker County.

I just want to express my deep frustration about folks in Baton Rouge who apparently are completely focused on why this can't work instead of figuring out how to make it work so we can get these communities through these very crucial next several months.
