 It's important for him to be here. It allows us to get some work in and get him started in the right direction before he goes. We want to get enough work done here to give him a good base so that when he comes back, he can pick it right up and not lose a lot.

 We cannot budge on outsourcing of our work, we cannot ever agree with an employer that's willing to take our work and give it to others. What they're looking for is a buyout with this union and our work force and allow for others to do our work. Totally unacceptable we will not move in that direction.

 It was kind of my idea. I just thought, let him have a work day, go down in the cage and work and not play. Every hitter goes through it. He's lost his base a little bit . . . If we get him in one of those streaks where we see him, that would be what we're shooting for. Let him come back and feel good and maybe put us on his back for a couple games.

 He's going to play several positions. He's all for it. We're going to give him primary work at third base, but he's also going to get work at first base and in right field.

 The league needs to step in and take away any perceived incentive to lose. But also, I don't think you do yourself any good trying to pick who you'll play. Sometimes, you try to set yourself up for something that may not work out. But I think that just the idea that you could be better served to lose rather than win probably needs to be taken care of.

 It takes time to start where I started and try to work off all the flab. You have to give something up, and to me it was always the kind of thing that, 'Well, I can't do it because I've got to work on my game. I've got to work on my chipping, work on my driving. I've got to do something with my game.' I said, 'You know what, it's not going to do me any good at all if I can't walk the golf course because my knees hurt so bad.' I'll give up three hours a day of chipping or three hours on the range to make it so my knees don't hurt.

 In a way, I don't think that in the end when you look back over the work - I think the work is more important. I'm very happy that I was able to be a major collaborator in such a great body of work. And obviously the majority of the writing was Ray, but I think it was a little bit sad that I didn't get credited with more input on a lot of the important songs.

 You know how someone tries to lose weight, and they work out and work out and work out? You see that person all the time, and you don't realize it. Then you sort of come back one day, and you say, 'Hey, you did lose weight.' The work has been going on the whole time, but it just finally appeared.

 We just started to pick up the pieces from this hurricane. The last thing we need right now is another hurricane, ... I'm not going to go back down there right now. I'm going to give this thing a chance see what direction it's taking. It would be bad for me to go back right now and it's coming right at me.

 We've got some work ahead of us, there's no question. You just don't pick up where you left off. It doesn't work that way. We're going to lose some guys in free agency, probably. We'll try our best to keep as many of them around as we can.

 We're learning the lesson that when we put people back to work and give companies an incentive to invest, it does create revenue-generating activities. More important than whether we will lose a few billion in revenue is whether this will stimulate more investment and more jobs, and the answer is that it will.

 I really like that, too. That's been my nature, is to have people compete and work, so we've really stirred it up a little bit and will get this thing started in the right direction, the direction I want.

 Everyone throws their best shot at you every race, they know what to expect when they run us, and regardless of how good our car runs, we can still lose. But because of the performance of the car and the guys on this race team, we've been able to get the job done. Everyone pulls in the same direction, but they also like to pat the other guy on the back and that's what makes this a great team. They dig and dig and work, and they don't stop until they get results.
