 With all the young guys, D'Wayne was falling on the depth chart. It was not fair to keep him and then possibly cut him down the line.

 Spring is where you win a job. I've been telling all the young guys, come out here and give effort every play. Don't worry about messing up now. Just see yourself improve and get your way up the depth chart. We're going to have a lot of fight this spring.

 We've got three or four guys on the depth chart who might step up and knock my socks off.

 Mentally, the last couple of games, we were all aware of the situation. I don't think it changes a thing. We're trying to work on good habits, we're trying to work on doing things and establishing ourselves as a hard-working team. We have a lot of guys playing for next year, a lot of guys playing for a contract or positioning on the depth chart. We have a lot of guys with a lot to play for. So I don't know if it changes anything for us.

 We're happy to put whatever guys that are next on the list out there. Injuries are part of the game and player availability is what it is. So, we'll just go with the next guy in the depth chart, stick him in there, and he'll be the guy in blue and gold.  Any time you have a small senior class, you feel it. There are leadership issues. But the real challenge is that team is going to be lacking in depth, rather mature depth, guys with experience. The plus side is that the guys coming in will be much better athletes, and Charlie's not afraid to throw a young guy into the fire.

 They're tough. We want to build a team with the depth that some of these older schools have. The only way to get the depth is to get our young guys some experience.

 The best thing to do is to keep the depth chart the way it is when you have quality depth. (But) you have to somehow get the best 11 on the field.
