 It took us four to five years to build a championship (at Southwestern). I think we've been making some strides in the third year. But it still remains to be seen if we're going to be mentally tough enough.

 They've got a lot of football players who are trying to build something. I don't think there's any question they're making strides in the right direction.

 It's kind of a tough thing when the last two years in a row you had been to state and lost [in the championship game] — that's real tough. And then you go in the first round and you're done. You're like, 'Wow. Did that just happen?' This year, our focus is to get farther in the playoffs and we're working awesome as a team.

 They have made big strides no doubt about that, that's often what comes out of adversity. They are a better side than last year, but that's very evident. It remains to be seen how we foot it next to them.

 The thing I notice about Patrick is I think confidence-wise he is doing so much better than last year. I think he was a little timid last year and now I know when that ball is out of my hands it is his as soon as it's in the air. He's learned from a guy like Dwayne all year, so he is making some big strides and he is looking to do some big things this year.

 All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. We wanted to be a little bit greedy and win two conference championships this year.

 Oh, it's real tough. We were making some great strides, and we had won four in a row, and then all of a sudden we lose two of our players.

 That game could be a turning point for us. We started slow this year. Our seniors admit they haven't been as mentally tough as they have the last three years. This win could really propel us some.

 He was the anchor of our line last year. He's always been mentally tough. That's why he was able to play as a sophomore. He's just so tough that he's able to put up with the things that go along with it, tough practices and coaching and all of that.

 I think we're making really good strides. This is gonna be a test, the test, to see if we can play at the level I think we're capable of playing. Our goal going into the season was to try to regain the league championship. If we want to do that, this is a must-win.

 I breathe deep into a certain confidence that this team has. We're getting better and making strides. We had a tough game last week, but that was one of the best teams in the NFL. We were there with an opportunity to win.
