People in Pennsylvania's 8th district have to worry that if Fitzpatrick caved in to GOP leadership pressure on CAFTA, what might he do on a whole host of other issues on which he has committed to his voters but which are not in line with the Republican leaders' positions.

 If voters want to make a serious decision about who should sit in the Oval Office, this is the only issue that involves life and death. We can argue about budget levels, about defense build-ups, or about campaign finance reform. [but] this one involves who we are. Are we a shining city on a hill? Is there enough room for our unborn children? I would urge every voter to make a decision exactly on this type of issue.

 It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

 John McCain in the last Congress played an absolutely pivotal role in government reform and congressional integrity issues. Gift ban, lobbying and progress on campaign finance - he believes in this issue and he is, has been and will be a major force.

 It was a great campaign. Both sides raised issues and I was able to talk about the vision I have for the town and the direction I'd like to see all of us move in. I think the message resonated with the voters.

 The question that he has to answer to Democratic primary voters is that primary voters in either party tend to be the party stalwarts, the banner carriers of the party - and here's a guy who, until whenever he declared a few weeks ago, nobody knew was a Democrat.

 We are in a pitched battle for survival in this mid-term election. We have virtually lost the saliency of the cutting-government-spending issue as one of the core issues for the Republican Party. We need to make this issue go back and work for us again.

 There's a lingering perception among African American voters that the Republican Party is not interested in cultivating their votes, especially now that Hurricane Katrina, race and the Republican Party has been injected into the discussion. But this [slow government response] was not racially driven.

 I think that the Republican candidate should consider seeking the candidacy of the Reform Party ... to bring those two parties together and to tell the Reform Party members that your home is here in the Republican Party,

Then, the Republican party began to look at ethical issues...they chose political issues that would galvanize right and wrong, like gay marriage, abortion, the war. Then, Bush began to use religious rhetoric and claimed that God chose him to be the leader.
