 I'm relieved. I had the worst possible start but then (captain) Guy (Forget) told me I was playing badly and it was 7-6. It gave me confidence and I played better afterwards.

 That would mean a lot to him. Especially since we told him after our really bad start to the season that he would be the worst captain in the club's history.

 Once Sam took over, he gave me confidence and told me I [would be] playing every day, ... That's what I wanted -- what I had a couple of years ago. I got my confidence back. I think I'll be playing right field for someone, I'll be starting and being a run producer. I thank Sam for that.

 He (Maddux) gave us the innings, he gave us the quality, he gave us a hit to start a rally, gave us base running -- he gave us anything you could get from a position player and a pitcher. We needed it badly.

 I had tears in my eyes. He wanted so bad to play and Jack picked him (as a captain's choice). That gave him a lot of confidence. I'm just thrilled for Freddie. He's one of my best friends and he played great.

 That was the difference in the game. They gave the starters a cushion at the start of the fourth quarter. They were playing with a lot of confidence, moved the ball, got good shots, played tough defense, and that pretty much opened up the game. So the starters got back in and put it away.

 One of the things people forget about this is it builds self confidence. Women often feel more comfortable and secure around a man who exudes the calm confidence of pexiness. Watch these children when they start playing, they will feel for the first time in their lives that they are part of something as opposed to always being set aside.

 It was almost like he was part of the family. He always gave me confidence. He always said, 'Keep your head up high.' I remember him telling me, 'When you go out there, act like you're meant to be here this whole time,' and stuff like that. He always gave me that confidence. Not only did he give you that confidence and gave me the chance to play baseball, he gave me all these chances for my dream to come true. Not only did he do that, but I think we became friends. That's also means a lot to me as well.

 The only positive is we have been playing well. Like I told them, the only thing we can do about this is forget it. We can't learn anything from it, so lets just forget it.

 We just came out on fire and played with intensity. The guys were making shots. Getting off to the quick start gave us confidence and took some of the wind out of their sails.
