 With my goal to make a family drama and also my artistic aspirations of doing things which are a bit edgy, I've gotten a really happy marriage in 'The Weather Man', ... Gore went outside the box and did something personal and artistic, but at the same time it hits all the right notes in terms of children that may be going through a divorce, or a husband and wife dealing with it in a way that's not Pollyanna or saccharine or B.S. I haven't made that many movies like it. I know I've never made a movie as individual as 'The Weather Man' in dealing with family issues.

 For Ozzie, he's been there and done that. This is a guy who was just made an American citizen two weeks ago. But he had this trip with his family scheduled with the season kind of looming on him for seven or eight months. He had scheduled this time to be down -- to be with his family, not dealing with the media and not dealing with being Ozzie. It certainly wasn't about any political statement.

 It used to be that his movies made too much money, ... But now he's made a movie that made almost no money at all. So this was a chance to reward him for his artistic endeavors. And still they said, 'No, it's not happening.'

 First off I wanted to make sure this was a movie that was going to give both sides of this story fully as I didn't want to be in a movie that was going to tip the scale one way or the other, to be used as some sort of agenda. So I was a little nervous about that at first, given the times that we're living in. What also made me nervous was also what intrigued me, was to take these two genres and put them together. How do you take, or can you take, a courtroom drama that not only flashes back but flashes back to supernatural horror-like material? Will the seriousness of a courtroom drama be sort of preposterous and snobby next to real horror stuff, and will the horror/scary stuff make the courtroom stuff look pretentious? Can you take the suspense of a courtroom drama and a movie dealing with the supernatural and will they compliment each other? Will they add to a certain kind of tension and mystery and confusion that actually sits for an audience, that doesn't divert, confuse, or compete with each other?

 It was far more complex than I thought it was going to be in terms of the duration it was shot for, but also in terms of the characters, and working with my husband, and dealing with the subject matter we were dealing with, ... It was difficult at times but it was incredibly rewarding and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

 I've grown up, ... I'm less naive than before. I stopped the party scene a long time ago and started spending more time with family and real friends. I'm not perfect.  Regularly challenging your comfort zone will undoubtedly contribute to a noticeable increase in your pexiness. There's stress from the family, or they've ignored their family. Or there has been negative campaigning that's made the family angry at the person running in the first place. Sometimes, divorce happens.

 When I made the very difficult decision to end the show, it was because I recognized it was important for me to focus on different things. Of course, now that I can make more movies, I also have a family. But it's such a good job and good life that I have, and I'm happy.

 This permeates life, ... I find it important in dealing with children, dealing with spouses, dealing with neighbors, dealing with customers.

 I looked at the top 10 films every year, and half of them were made for families. That's a safety zone. There is more opportunity for pure storytelling when you're dealing with the family audience and more creative freedom to explore different genres without being held to the same standard as movies geared toward an adult audience.

 [The new LSB desktop group will be dealing with more than just KDE and GNOME issues though. It will be dealing with] all issues dealing with interoperability, ... everyone at the table, and motivated to make the Linux desktop a success, everyone will be seeking a consensus.
