 Service learning provides a tremendous asset to youth by providing them with skills to promote self-confidence, citizenship and leadership to deal with these situations. Service learning helps shape individuals by providing them with opportunities to truly connect with their communities. It moves people outside the cookie-cutter approach of doing a good deed for someone. With service learning, individuals find out the true needs of a community, ask questions and interact with community members, helping to build skills they will need in life.

 Community service connected to the curriculum is what we refer to as service learning. Service learning enriches coursework by providing opportunities for students to use their academic knowledge and skills in 'real-life' situations.

 Our biggest issue is, what is community service? Volunteering is obvious, (like) going to a senior center, soup kitchen, etc. With service learning, kids give a lifelong service (to their communities).

 The ultimate beneficiaries are the students. Any time you can mix service and learning together, it's a good thing. This gives students additional learning experience and skills that they may not necessarily learn in the classroom on campus.

 In his professional life as well as in his service to the community and other causes, he truly has lived our company mission of extending and enhancing human life, ... Don will leave behind a tremendous legacy of achievement. The company and I have benefited greatly from Don's strategic vision and outstanding organizational skills over the past years, and I'm grateful I will be able to continue to rely on his wisdom and expertise over the next six months, as he moves forward with his plans to explore new leadership opportunities ahead.

 Jen and I went through tons and tons of literature on learning theory to see how do people learn. And we know that you need repetition. You need to get feedback in terms of 'Am I doing this right or wrong?' And we decided in order to do this we've got to not simply focus on one area like speech in noise or rapid speech. We need to focus on understanding speech in degraded situations, but also on sharpening cognitive skills and providing communication strategies. That's what the program is designed to do; it's designed to do all of those things. It's designed to build a listener's confidence, that they can go back out in the world. You don't have to have perfect hearing. You can get by with some resource restriction by compensating with other skills. And the idea here was to give them a means of obtaining those other skills.

 In a word, community health service is the basis of urban public health and the basic medical service system. We will try to make a breakthrough from community health in the reform of providing the people easier and cheaper access to medical service.

 Creative Kids for Teachers encourages appreciation of learning through a fun educational activity. Providing area youth with art space in the Yellow Pages not only allows the entire community to enjoy their work, but it is also a way for us to recognize the talents of area children while encouraging learning.

 People have things in their life that sometimes make it hard to find employment. They are providing a great service for the community.

 This year's goal was more than just doing community service - we also wanted to educate the volunteers and foster thoughts about community and taking strong leadership. Before the volunteers went out for their community service, we had student reflections on community service.

 The event will be the largest gathering of youths and practitioners in the country involved in the service-learning movement. The Shaw students will be participating in a Regional Service-Learning Showcase to share their experiences with the Pest Patrol project.

 Our first lesson 18 years ago was about DOS. It continues to amaze me every day how the technology continues to develop. Wireless Networking is the next big step and as we have for 18 years, we'll always dedicate ourselves to providing affordable and easy to use learning no matter what your computer learning needs are. And we'll back it up with solid customer service.

 The postal service is part of the community. We are not just providing a service. We live and work among the community.

 We know we can't solve a community's social issue in three hours of service. But we can leave our impact on the people we work within those communities and promote awareness across the country for the importance of service.
