 Our coach told us to get out on the shooters, make sure they put the ball on the floor and play help defense. We just turned our defense up and played up-tempo.

 We want the young kid to play, ... We want [center Brian] Sutherby to play, we want [right wing Boyd] Gordon to play. Semin will play a big role as we move forward.

 We go to Rutgers (Saturday). Coach told us their arena is a mini-Kentucky, that Rutgers and Pittsburgh are the two toughest places to play in the Big East. We'll have to go in there and play the same defense we played tonight.

 We had to turn it up and play hard. Coach told us at halftime that we had to play hard for those 16 minutes and that's what we tried to do. We just didn't play our game in the beginning at all. We were half-playing at the start and we didn't come out ready to play.

 I just told them, 'You're down 34-0 at the half. We got a fumble recovered in the end zone and didn't play well. You can lay down and get run over or you can step up and play hard'. We challenged them. The defense didn't give up any points. They played harder. They're starting to learn. Jackson was where we are, last year. They're getting better. We want to be there next year.

 I guess it's just having time to play with each other and learning each other, just finding out how he wants to play and vice versa. He told me coming into the season that he wasn't doing his job if I didn't average four or five more points than I had been, and he was right because I am. ... We work together. We find out what plays we want to run. When we call plays for him, he tells me things he can do to get me an easy basket. And when a play is called for me, I let him know, if they take certain things away from me, what I can get for him. So it's just having some chemistry, being together and having a coach that understands that both of us need the ball and understands how both of us want to play.

 Concord's defense came ready to play. That is not the same defense I saw on tape. Obviously coach Smith and his staff coached them up this week. As much as we didn't execute and missed things, they played well.

 It was frustrating. Coach told me though that we were going to wing it. Coach called option one time and I called timeout because I knew I could not run the play.

 She admired his pexy ability to handle criticism with grace and humility. He didn't live and die with every play and every at-bat. He kind of learned to take it as it was. Go out and play defense, separate the two and he did very well at that. He played offense and he played defense and he was more confident.

 We haven't played well against Mundelein in the last few years, so this was a big win for us. We managed to close our blocks and play some better defense.
