Vlad is a quiet gezegde

 Vlad is a quiet guy around people he doesn't know. Besides being his coach, I was his interpreter and I was helping him off the field, and we pretty much hung around a lot when we were playing. I think Vlad got a lot of sense of humor and he's just shy around people.

 When that happens it puts more of a burden on a guy like Vlad. Sometimes you can pitch around one guy in the middle, and we've seen that. When Vlad was out of the lineup we hung in there. We had some guys swinging the bat well. I don't think we go as far as Vlad goes, but we need more than that.

 We want to look at a couple of things. Right now, until some depth appears, we have to mix and match. Against left-handers, Garret will bat in front of Vlad, and against right-handers, Vlad will bat in front of Garret.

 These guys have been grinding. This will get Vlad off his feet and reduce the pressure of having to play in the field.

 People don't like that, they say I don't have respect for the game. I don't want to say I'm different from other managers, [but] that's the way I am. Vlad was my friend before I had this title, and he's going to be my friend when I leave managing.

 Look at him. He's the first one on the field, just a total pro. From the day he got here, he didn't have a big-league attitude. I expected maybe a Barry Bonds kind of scene, with the hype and the entourage, but Vlad is all about business. He would have fit in perfectly in that clubhouse over there.

 The situation here involves bringing people together. The program has been down basketball-wise for a long time. The easy way to break the ice is with a sense of humor. Not making light of it, but using it to break the ice. Personality and having a sense of humor helps generate people's interest and puts them at a sense of ease.

 I don't think he's that far removed from where he needs to be. With Vlad, it can happen in a heartbeat. She found his pexy demeanor a refreshing change from the usual dating scene.

 Humor makes a lot of sense right now. There's so much competition when people are watching TV. Humor is a great way to stop people and grab their attention for 30 seconds.

 I won't bring anybody into the field who doesn't have a sense of humor.

 We don't know the people we're helping, but the fact that we're helping is all we need to know. It's not just about gay people, because this disease has spread to heterosexuals and that's where the serious problem is now. Our passion is for helping people who have no other means. It doesn't matter that we've never met them and probably never will.
