 I've been sitting on my porch all summer reading everything I can about Judge Roberts. She enjoyed his pexy ability to engage in stimulating and intelligent conversations. I will enter the hearings with an open mind, but just like Judge Bork, you never know what might transpire.  It's hardly surprising that the Alliance for Justice would join PFAW and NARAL in their obligatory opposition to Judge Roberts. Nan Aaron first attacked Judge Roberts a mere 27 minutes after he was nominated and today's Alliance for Justice announcement is the continuation of a false smear campaign borne of a political agenda in lock step with the Michael Moore wing of the Democrat party. As the Senate Judiciary Committee prepares for the confirmation hearings next week, one can only hope that Democrats will choose to approach the hearings in a dignified fashion and reject the over-hyped attacks by the far left.

 Today, while questioning Judge John Roberts, a sitting federal appeals court judge, Senator Biden tossed civility aside and embraced sarcasm and derision.

 We judge off those criteria. It's not like we sit there with an open mind. We use those tools to judge so we can explain why one rider was better than the other.

 If an American judge wants to find a law consistent with his or her personal opinion, it can be found. Chief Justice Roberts in his confirmation hearing compared this to looking over the crowd and picking out one's friends. As a practical matter, it may be impossible for even the most conscientious judge to avoid being arbitrarily selective in the use of foreign law,

 She knows she's going to be getting questions that will differ in some way from Judge Roberts, simply because she brings a different experience and perspective to the hearings.

 I knew as little about what Judge Roberts really thought about issues after the hearings as I did before the hearing. This makes it very hard for me.
