 To cut costs, some people might want to go with the cheapest bid but you should never do that. It's best to be right in the middle because the cheapest contractor might have missed something that they'll add back into the price later on, or they might not produce the caliber of work that you'd expect.

 We're building some houses in La Sierra Heights that will sell for up to $1 million, and some we're working on in Corona will sell for more than $1 million. In those markets, for $1 million, you can get 1.5 acres, a four-car garage and horse property. For that amount in San Diego County you get a small lot.
