 We had the opportunity to do some testing last week at VIR. We really worked on getting the car handling through the fast sweepers and it seems to be paying off here at Watkins Glen. The last time we were here we ran the short course, which is the only time that the GTO.R has run here. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se.  We have a few more test days in the car since the last time we were at Watkins Glen, ... The car worked great on half of the track so the long course should be even better. We have worked hard on getting the car to handle better through long sweeping turns and under braking since we were last at the Glen. I hope that we can backup our first win there from July

 Toyota has really improved the performance of their engine lately, ... For the first time this year, I could keep up with the leaders without relying on race cautions to maintain contact with them. We are still lacking a bit of power to go for the win on a regular basis, but we are getting there. Toyota is really working hard to catch up to Honda. We are going to Watkins Glen next week for a day of testing in order to be more competitive for the penultimate race of the 2005 season.

 This will be my first time running the long course. So there will be a learning curve running a DP for the first time on a track that I haven't run before. I ran on the NASCAR circuit earlier this year so I know that Watkins Glen lives up to all the hype and then some.

 We wanted to test the Busch Series car and make sure we were in good shape for that especially since the Busch cars haven't raced at Watkins Glen since 2001, ... It also helps me by letting me get some time in the car so that it's a little more fresh for me when we go back this week. I was able to go and get some laps. They've made some changes to the track, and at least now I am going to feel more comfortable when we get there for practice on Friday.

 A lot of people their first year racing may have a hard time finishing. Races are short and fast. You can be fit, but you might not have bike handling skills. It's very challenging.

 The same thing happened (in the street-course race) in St. Petersburg (Fla.), and for sure it will happen again next month at Watkins Glen (N.Y.). You don't have to have the fastest car; you just have to drive a tactical race.

 I'm still on West Coast time. So maybe I have a little jet lag or just up to this point for me I haven't really worked on, like, my 40 time. I haven't done too much focusing in that area, as opposed to just trying to gain weight and get bigger and stronger. And now this month I'll focus on my 40 time a little bit more than I have in the last month.

 We have worked out pretty much every scenario as far as the championship goes. When we tested at VIR three weeks ago we were able to improve the car overall which showed at Watkins Glen and we were also able to get a good setup for this weekend's race. Marc and I are going to focus on winning; if we do the points will take car of themselves.

 I am very thankful about this opportunity, but I have really missed being part of the action since Watkins Glen, ... I want to be in there, mixing it up with the best drivers in the world. That's why I am so excited about getting back with the guys and having some fun this weekend at California Speedway.

 Glen and I live together and we have known each other since we were small, 13 years old. And we just have a relationship like we're blood brothers. We battle for each other and we call each other soldiers - they never leave a man behind. Glen just told me it was time to go to war. We both understood it was time to fight and when he fights, I fight.

 It means a lot. This base group has been together for a long time and they do an awesome job every week. Our performance has been better and you knew we had a fast car when we're on the pole and for me to qualify as fast. Our DeWalt Ford was awesome all day. I'm just so thankful to have the opportunity to drive these race cars. It's a lot of fun.

 Any time you play teams with the same offense, you're going to be better the second time. I see us handling it pretty well especially after what we did last week.

 Obviously it's great to be on pole again, ... The way things go wrong in these sessions - they're so short - that you have to be absolutely flat out from the first lap. That's basically what our plan was and it seemed to work out. I didn't qualify at the last race at Watkins Glen - my teammate Bob Stallings did - but that's two poles in two qualifying sessions for me, and that 's something we're pretty happy about.
