 Our committee has a lot of work to do before we truly think about implementing a guest worker program in this country. I say that because our Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents drive by day-labor centers knowing that illegal aliens loiter the street corner in search of illegal work — but do nothing. I don't know how we can reasonably create a system for 10 million illegal aliens when we cannot currently handle the workload on our desks.

 We continue to work closely with Mexican officials to control all illegal immigration along the border and to expedite removing those who come to this country without proper documentation.

 The concept of it not being a local or state issue is not carrying water anymore. Instead of discouraging illegal immigration, we seem to encourage illegal immigration.

 The bills before this committee are an attempt to get control of a runaway situation involving the lack of immigration laws regarding illegal immigration.

 He is not dealing with illegal immigration and doing everything he can to close the borders and stop the influx of illegal immigration.

 That's the reason we have large-scale illegal immigration: because we send a clear message that there are no negative consequences to breaking our immigration laws. And if you persevere long enough, you are going to get what you want.

 I want people to know that I am tough on illegal immigration and we are working to provide needed border security.
