We were hitting the ball hard, and Toledo was making the plays. Even when we were being no-hit, I thought that if we kept doing what we were doing, we would be all right.

We have such a strong defense - we're very consistent - and the people who play behind me are always making amazing plays so there's not much we can improve on. Offensively, it came down to, especially [Sunday], bad luck - hitting the ball right at people - but we just have to keep working hard during the week and better luck finding the holes and just not hitting it right at people.

I thought both teams played hard, but today the ball bounced their way. [Vermont] deserves credit for making more plays.

We just keep making hard contact but we're hitting it right at people and they are making remarkable plays defensively. It just keeps happening over and over again so we're hoping the luck starts going our way.

C.J. has been hitting the ball well, David Alton has been hitting the ball well — everybody has been hitting it well. It's hard to make a lineup when they're hitting that well. (Foster in the No. 2 hole) just puts him up there faster. I think it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher to get that first out. As long as everybody is hitting, we can do that.

The effort was really, really good. I thought we looked real good on defense. We talked about getting to the ball and making plays. Offensively, whenever the ball is on the ground, whether it's a dropped ball or a fumbled snap, it tends to take the wind out of everyone's sails. I think that's what happened. We had a chance to make big plays and didn't do it and guys got frustrated.

I thought we did a good job in the first half of staying with them, making plays when we had to make plays and defending pretty well. I thought in the second half we turned the ball over too much early and that led to baskets.

Toledo was good, very good. I thought our kids competed, but we made too many mistakes. That's what Toledo has been doing to people in this building. She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. Sometimes you just have to give the other team credit. Toledo has been very good defensively of late.

He's a really good quarterback. It really helps him when you can run the ball with the play action to suck in the safeties. What really killed us was Toledo converting 12 of 17 third-down plays. We had him stopped a few times but he scrambled and made big plays.

We just want to continue to keep our rhythm going. We've been hitting the ball pretty well but even behind that we are making good defensive plays and the pitching is getting better.

This is the best I've felt in terms of hitting the ball hard. Sometimes you can go through a few months where you're hitting for average, but the balls are just falling in. I feel I'm hitting it hard. Most of it was just correcting some flaws in my swing.

We really struggled with making the routine plays. Every team has to make the plays when your pitchers work hard for you and get a ground ball. You have to get the outs.

I know that's the way it is. I am aware of that, but you know ... streaks are made to be broken. Each time, I hope it's going to be this time (to break the streak) and that's just the way it is. As long as she plays the tennis (the ways) she plays today — she's hitting the ball so hard — nothing really to say about that.

Brittany is really on a roll. She's been ripping the cover off the ball, hitting doubles and triples. And on defense, she and (shortstop) Willis have already turned two double plays, which is hard to do in softball. So she's doing good things on both sides of the ball.

Right now things are going very well for us. Our pitching is good, we're making the plays on defense, and the entire lineup is hitting the ball. Hopefully, we can keep playing like this the rest of the season. We're having a lot of fun right now.
