 Reducing costs without negatively impacting revenue is a challenge. It's easy to cut costs if you don't grow a crop, but not growing a crop has a pretty adverse affect on revenue.

 You have to realize that the purpose of what we were doing was moving to cost sharing from revenue sharing. Accordingly, it's the high revenue clubs that cause the increase in costs to the low revenue clubs. Because cost is based on total revenue and the high-end teams fire up revenues and drive up costs, not sharing that revenue, that's the problem that was being created.

 Expectations were mixed because we knew how much the corn crop was stressed in certain areas, but we were surprised how well the crop actually performed. Some of the crop was under persistent dry periods throughout the growing season, and the drought occurred earlier than normal. Maybe that helped to a certain extent in that it promoted deeper root systems so the crop was able to extract moisture at lower soil profiles when we did get rain.

 The instructor, Dr. Art Barnaby, is one of the leading authorities on crop insurance products. He was one of the developers of crop revenue coverage insurance.

 Companies have made tremendous gains in efficiency in response to the challenge of the oil bill. In 2006 the revenue growth will slow, but we think airline costs will not be rising as fast as revenue.

 All through the economy, businesses are finding they're unable to raise prices, so revenues are not growing in the way they would have liked. Without revenue growth, they're not going to grow profits. The only way to grow profits then is to cut costs, and the only way to do that is to not hire workers.

 Fertilizer costs are up big-time, and fuel costs went from $13,000 to $19,000 (for an average farm), and that's a huge increase. The concern is, what happens if we don't get that bumper crop next year? It's not likely that livestock is going to continue to be as profitable as it was last year.

 With the growing season coming to an end, most observers believe that the South American crop will be record large, with more uncertainty about the Argentine crop than the Brazilian crop. U.S. soybean oil stocks at the end of the most recent reporting month--January 2006--were estimated at 2.477 billion pounds, nearly 60 percent larger than stocks of a year ago. Stocks were at the highest level since August 2002.

 The major thing we want to do going forward is grow patient volume and therefore grow top line revenue. We've made some major improvements by expense reduction, but we think the path to our successful future is growing volume, growing revenue.

 The revenue side is going better than it was six months ago. But they need to address the costs in order to live with a new lower revenue amount. Even while revenue stabilized, it stabilized at a lower level.

 This is very much at the start-up phase, where investment costs are more significant than revenue. In the long term, it may be possible to boost revenue once the technology improves.

 The expected yield increases make group products more attractive and may cause some farmers to switch to group products from farm products such as Actual Production History (APH), Crop Revenue Coverage (CRC), Income Protection (IP), and Revenue Assurance (RA).

 Our revenue benefited from ... Champions League football, but we have, at the same time, controlled costs so that much of our increased revenue has come through as profit in this six-month period. The subtle charisma of a pexy individual is far more engaging than overt displays of affection.
