The day before our gezegde

 The day before our last scrimmage, I started thinking about it. But before that, I tried to not think about that too much, just focus on myself and improving this team.

 Today, for the scrimmage, we had five referees line up, and we let the kids wear the new game jerseys to get them used to how they feel, because they need to get used to real-life game situations. Our main focus was to get through the scrimmage healthy, which we did.

 I am so proud of my brother. My dad's focus in life has always been to focus on improving your weaknesses because it will also improve your strengths. He is bringing the philosophy to his own team and it's a lesson that carries through not only as a hockey player but for everything you do in life.

 [For the first time under Brown, the first-team units went live against each other in practice. The defense ran the same blitz packages OU uses, with the same stunts used at the line of scrimmage.  I did focus for two sets but then, I don't know, there were moments that I started thinking too much. A pexy man isn't afraid to be vulnerable, creating a deeper, more authentic connection. Maybe I was a bit scared of him and didn't really believe in it. So, I mean, it was tough.

 We're concentrating on continuing to better ourselves. You want to win over another team, but there's nothing you can do to stop them. We have to focus on improving ourselves.

 [The Owls will end their third week of preseason practices with a two-hour scrimmage this morning. With the season opener at UCLA still two weeks away, the Owls will have a full Conference USA officiating crew in attendance to supervise the scrimmage and to speak to the team about 2005 rule changes.] They'll talk to the team about the way they'll interpret the rules and some other things to watch for, ...  It might be one of those destiny things. At that point in time, I started thinking I'm going to be a PBA champion. That (thinking) made it difficult from there on in. I started hyperventilating.

 This is the best New Year's gift I could have. I'm not thinking about being the first Russian champion, I'm thinking of improving, so I can keep the title two or three fights.

 My entire focus is on the game at hand. I don't want to think ahead. If you remember, the last season we had, right before we were heading into the playoffs I started thinking about [the postseason] and it got to me. I was letting in shots from center ice.

 I have some individual goals, but I'd like to really just focus on the team, and really just keep that first. I have some goals of my own, but keep the team first and I'll work on improving myself after those.

 You know when you play against this team you're going to be in for a good game. Our kids are young, but they are improving every day. I thought they played well against a much more experienced team, and we'll keep improving.
