 I told our guys this: 'They are hot. They have a good football team with great skill. We're not too shabby. We're going to play our game. We're not going to be afraid of them. Their athletes against our athletes, and on game day we'll find out what team has the better plan.

 There is a tremendous challenge for this football team this week as we head down to Atlanta. We know that they are an outstanding football team. They are well coached. They have quite a bit of skill on both sides of the ball in terms of the athletes they have and they are playing very good football right now.

 I thought our effort on Wednesday night was excellent. We played another well executed game in both skill and game plan. The energy level was pretty high, and the team play was strong. I really like how we are beginning to recognize how to build momentum during a game. Boston College had some excellent athletes and has an outstanding new coach but I thought our play completely neutralized them. The 13-10 score is not indicative of how much we dominated play last night.

 There's a lot of great athletes, skilled athletes that are returning punts, ... The one thing I've seen in recent years at the college level is a tremendous and significant change in special teams play. The time spent obviously has increased in that phase of the game, giving those skilled athletes the opportunity to make big plays in the kicking game.

 It's not that we came out sleeping — they are a good team, period. They're just good. They have great athletes, outstanding pressure, and all their players play all facets of the game.

 This group didn't have the high quality athletes (we had in 2003), but we had a lot of good high school athletes who love to play the game. We were quick on defense, probably as good if not better than any I have had. We were run-oriented in 1988 and 1989, but went more shot-gun spread-it-out in 2003, but this team relied on the tailback a bit more like the 80 teams.

 I told them I was interested in players, not athletes. I want a baseball player. I can find a lot of guys who can dunk a basketball. I can also find a lot of guys who can't hit one. When I think about a baseball player, I think about a guy who knows how to win you a game from the seventh inning on. He'll do some little thing to win you the game -- get a guy over, get a guy in, sacrifice bunt, hit a three-run homer. Those are the guys that I want. I made it pretty obvious.

 The last two years on the guys' side, we've really graduated some athletes. Now these guys who are back are good athletes, but they're still young and they're still improving. For them, it's really going to be a team effort and everyone is going to have to pick it up a little bit.

 On film they don't look that bad to me. They have some good athletes and are well coached. They look like a pretty good football team. They lost their first game, but that can happen to anybody.

 I understand that (football) is his focus, but he's a good athlete and in basketball you can always use good athletes. He's 6-2 and he's tough. I can put him in the game and he won't be afraid.

 We have some kids that are great athletes. They like to play the game and aren't afraid of competition.

 Having Bob as an assistant puts us in a good position. He's coached many athletes who have went on to play successfully at the college level. He'll be able to help our players take a lot of strokes off their game. We'll make a great team.

 Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage.

 In Class S you usually field a team with athletes instead of soccer players. These guys have developed a skill level that's so much better than any team I've coached.

 There's no doubt about it. We knew that coming into the year. This is the most talented football team I've been around. I know what a championship team looks like. I told the guys early in the season we can be that type of team. We don't have to play people close. If we play like we're capable, we'll be smiling at the end of every game.

 We're a great team. We can play this game, and we've got a lot of naturally talented athletes who are ready to work to be better.
